It's a constant battle for balance. If there's too much power creep then there is no point in gearing up your character because if you can one shot everything with a 1EX char and also one shot stuff with a 100EX char why bother grinding 100EX worth of gear?

" There has never been a league where 1ex can "one shot" major bosses, even harvest. Also no leagues where 1ex builds were doing max delirious maps. Even in the leagues where players were the most powerful, increasing gear lead to increased clear speed, reduced chance of death on bosses, easier time farming aspirational content. |

" I dunno. I can think of a few who could have. AW totems did over 28 mil dps around the time Breach came out without any significant investment. For like 4 straight leagues. GC Traps. Icicle Mines. There were a lot of times in the past where the end game was more about taking advantage of the gaps in predictable bosses that were slow and predictable than being geared, too. Piety and Dominus never required anything but damage. |

" and how many players actually get to this point of performance during a league in which they could actually enjoy at least a day or two of this? Seriously, the grabbing at straws because of a few streamers and their guide followers being able to clear content to exasperbate this idea that power creep is a sweeping issue is mindnumbingly distorted assertions. Maybe 5-10% of the actual player base invests enough into their builds (some of which might take the whole league to reach this point) to be capable of playing like this, so please let's not assume anyone and everyone and their grandma is 1 shotting full screens everyday of this league because power creep is an issue BS arguments. The mobs are more difficult every league as they add in new ones, and the bosses and rares also get silent buffs, and no one complains about their powercreep, no one calls for their nerfs unless it is completely obvious too all that something needs tuned dowm. But, when u got people who are at the very pinnacle of this game making builds that can do 119+ million sDPS, and some that can do even more, ye, I can see the whole power creeping with being able to achieve that, but those people worked hard to min-max those builds, and it is a bit unfair to blanket nerf/ shit on entire builds/archtypes just because a handful of players made other players upset by being able to make those builds and they couldn't in the same amount of time to enjoy/benefit from those builds like they could. This argument for builds that only cost 1ex to 1-shot stuff...where are these builds? I haven't found any that can pull off the feared do maven and the like in just 1ex of gear, and even if those builds could, I'd venture to say people just got used to the mechanics involved and their skill levels pushed them over the top, but I highly doubt 1ex of gear builds can really enjoy all content without more investment than that...again I think people blow this wholly out of proportion. The biggest problem here, is GGG.
Not that I think they're doing a "piss poor job" or that the game is in a "piss poor state", because I don't. I find the game fun, challenging and time consuming, which is how I like my games. The problem, is (and has been) their yo-yo ways of balancing and how they've "trained" players over the last few years. From Legion league to Ritual, they more or less trained players/told players that "you're supposed to be able to do everything". Which is totally OK, if that's the game they want to go for. Now, they're back to telling people that the "1% of the top content, is meant for the 1% of top players", players that are totally OK with choosing their builds based on power/content, and not preference. Which is also totally OK, if that's the game they want to go for. The problem is the wiggling. Is this a result of power creep? Of course. But it's more a result of GGG not being able to handle their own power creep in a more stable way. Some players want an easy game that they can play for a few hours here and there, and be able to beat everything. They tend to not see the problem with power creep: the more the merrier. Other players want a more challenging game, and WANT to grind and put in time to make their achievements feel like an accomplishment. Anyhow, I sidetracked a little bit. I haven't had my morning coffee yet. Edit: " And this is of course also a problem; people that are hellbent on not enjoying the game, unless they are wrecking everything - at the highest levels. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Nov 18, 2021, 2:11:08 AM

" This is a problem ggg created, back in the days you could play pure ed and kill endgame bosses like uber atziri. Now you have to use more tools, blight, because they scaled the boss life and changed support gems. That concept of having to put more time and effort in to get a similar result is beyond me. I still enjoy the game. |

" well i dont anymore. game is kinda dead to me at this point. it became such a boring sluggish stallfest that promotes playing the FOTM build or stay in yellow maps that i see no point in playing it right now. This is not what made PoE so big. this thread was necro'ed tho |

" Because everything becomes a meaningless grindfest. Sure there are some cool end game boss fights in game but that's like 1% of the whole game. The rest 99% is all about oneshotting screens and collecting loot. Seems like people enjoy that type of mindless meaningless grind. I don't. That's why I left and not coming back. Not at least until Poe 2 is released |

It's not it's a solution to PoE's itemization be terrible. The real issue is the map system and lack of a solid progression based endless endgame like everyone else has.
