Today I unistalled POE.. again.
Here is the story. LVl 89 Juggernaut almost 70K armor all resitances maxed out including chaos resitance. Health 4K and added cast on hit additional skills. I can do T10 maps relatively solidly so I thought farming T5 maps should take me from lvl89 to lvl90 that is 1%/map! 3 days of playing took me from 0% to 51% then I died on a T5 map (T5 maps seemd to be trivial) twice and 20% just gone out on the window in less than 3 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes I thoroughly checked the map parameters!!! Bottom line I am stuck at this level for years and I SIMPLY CAN NOT DO IT. |

" You are right, You can't do it.(at least its unlikely) Because you're HP is too low, 4000 is not even close to enough, you need to raise your HP up to at least 7000+ if you want to take real advantage of ur defenses. 4k HP is not enough on any build unless you're 1 shotting everything.. I was there once when most of my builds had like 3k hp and when i raised that number to a more reasonable amount i started climbing in levels rapidly and while my current league character is only 95 that was mostly due to me trying to chase money instead of levels. Well, I reinstalled POE again, because of course I did.
" Fair enough huge weak point in the build. I spent most of my preciouis divine orbs to get a better suited armor reorganized quite a sizeable part of my passive tree (some 25-30 nodes) and for the prioce of some armor, some drop in DPS(not that it was a forte), stun threshold, fortify, accuracy I increased my HP from 3800+ to 6500+. Then I made it to lvl 90 by first playing gold T5 maps and as I got closer to leveling I switched to a well known T4 map and I just spammed those T4 maps in blue. So yeah I reached the L80 achievement in 2019 and the L90 now in 2023. I also had the Emperor achievement in 2020 (finishing the Labirynth highest difficulty softcore.) That being said the leveling process was everything but NOT FUN.The problem mentioned before in other posts still stands. On one hand we have the harsh 10% XP penalty on the other hand we have random out of the blue damage spikes that can kill you in less than a second. Even after doing a dozen maps flawlessly and gain 10% of a level in two hours it can be ruined in less than a second. That is NOT FUN. I managed to get from 30% to 100% without dying but there were two or three moments when the 6.5K life saved me (with all my defenses as I did not compromise on those.). And all that on T5-T4 maps while I did several T10s without dying. Bottom Line: a. Either get rid og these disproportionate damage spikes (seems quite impossible giveb the huge amount of variables ongoing.) b. Reform the XP penalty. My suggestion is the following: on a given map the first death should be 3% penalty 2nd 6% penalty 3rd 10% penalty 4th 15% penalty 5th 20% penalty 6th 25% penalty. Then the player has a choice to abandon map or risk more xp loss with more deaths. Penalty resets with a new map. No glass cannon spamming would work but the huge annoyance of random spikes or other glitches could be well mitigated. And at last but not least: thank you SilentSymphony for the pointers. I appretiate that, I really do. |

" i've played this game for a bloody decade by now. i was stuck at level 83 could not progress to 84 for the longest time. i think about 2 years. then i got stuck behind level 95 for the longest time. once i broke past 96 i understood the PROCESS of leveling more. now my highest is 99. i will impart to you what i have gleened. 1. there are 2 processes. one is leveling process, another is clearing process. you choose one and stick to it. whenever i m at 0% i try and clear as much as i can to gain as much atlas bonuses etc. it is the "zen period". then the leveling process, this is much more tedious. 2. leveling process. the atlas is a great boon to players. one of the biggest issues with leveling is map sustain this can be dealt with via infinite map strategy:
Spoiler
the concept is you want to run 2 maps connected to each other until the end of time. whichever 2 is up to you. there are 2 things you need. the first is to get wandering path keystone which doubles all your atlas small passives but disables notables. from there you need to get 100% chance a monster will drop a connected map.
in theory this means you will always guarantee a map drop as long as you more or less full clear the map. but its not complete yet. you also need the 2nd step. which is to IDENTIFY 2 connected maps of highest tier that you can comfortably run. after you've identified which 2 maps you want to bounce between. you need to use the notable that BLOCKS favourited maps from dropping and then FAVOURITE all the maps connected to these 2 maps you've identified. in theory you can now sustain these 2 maps indefinitely. here is a sample of how the tree could look like: https://poeplanner.com/atlas-tree/BAAFACwAXz5M9YsuhCqn4jD6jepP99lbHX2L4X2Rm1gndYg0rKQrcesfKY1w492Ds8fnrtMOfbX7setfxIVe304b6Sii0CQyxB8TfdKekYmP5TPGqUO1Y2Yf1GzQKBQAH4sIAAAAAAAAAwMAAAAAAAAAAAA= personally i would then add nodes that maps dropping a higher tier, and chance to duplicate maps. also i would complete the center item quantity/rarity wheel. 3. staying alive via OFFENSE. i see you playing jugg. i understand it, but i would say you need sufficient defences and not go too much into it. i cant tell you the amount you need as it really depends on build, personally i would say the baseline is max res for all elements and chaos is ENOUGH. you need 100% spell suppression. and you need 20-40k armor. 4k hp IS enough IF you can kill monsters FAST. wellspring of creation node is a TRAP. it can help but i would not recommend it. that said, in part of having covered your base defences. you need OFFENSE. personally i love flicker paired with a single target skill, but find something you like that can clear the screen fast. 4. staying alive by AVOIDING content. whenever you die. dont get frustrated. LEARN the mistake. i personally have a long list of content that i actively AVOID. for example, legion and essence. its hard to estimate how much damage you're gonna take from them. porcupine mobs are a bitch but you can negate them by spending 5 points grabbing an axe mastery which can disable their explosion. i only take eater/exarch altars that wont pose a threat to my life. boss gains suppression? lol no prob, enemies gain ele damage? erm how about no. also with the infinite map strat, you have the option to roll your maps blue with safe mods OR even running em white. pro tip (increased aoe seems harmless but it is not- boxes with nova are crazy huge). also, if youre at higher levels 95 and above, dying once can be impactful so at that point you may need to decide to not listen to podcasts/external music. reason: purple crystals. they're freaking deadly and hard to see but the sizzle effect is distinct. learn to listen for it. 5. reduce visual clutter, disable all mtxs that may be distracting or reduce clarity. if you can get from 95 to 96, then you would have gotten the flow. it will be boring and tedious moving forward. by level 99, its going to be a marathon to 100. there is a way to "cheat" your way to 100, via buying/participating in runs. leveling in poe really is a marathon. at one point its all about willpower. your mindset. i mentioned i got stuck at 95 for the longest time. that changed 2 years back, a few leagues before archnemesis league, there was this person who reached level 100 on a MARAUDER. unascended. reading how he got there made me learn how much he needed to sacrifice to achieve it. it changed my mindset and approach to leveling. you can do it too. The 10% EXP penalty, wouldn't be so bad if you could craft/obtain better equipment. But 99.9% of the drops are complete garbage, even enemies in maps T11 forward won't drop better equipment than what you had doing T1 maps.
This game throws so much useless "loot" at you, that even Diablo3 would tell this game to cut it out. |

There are way more ways to die than before and the 6 portals and experience lost were never really touched.
Just dont do endgame content when you have sizable xp, go delving or mapping alch maps. Try to minize the risk of losing precious xp when necessary. |

" There are still major flaws holding your build back. Im not saying this to make you look bad or anything like that. Im pointing this out because PoE is a knowledge based game and thats where you are severely lacking. A lot of players get to lvl 90 in a single day or a fews days max. Its not hard, if you know what you are doing. Id recommend to head over to gameplay & help and have someone pick your build apart. Pointing out all the flaws while also suggesting solutions. Just some minor changes would likely double your defenses and allow you to stack more dmg as well, which will result in a much easier and more enjoyable time for you. Feel free to PM me, if you dont like the idea of discussing your build in gameplay & help. Im not a an expert with regards to Boneshatter Jugg tho and I could only point out very obvious flaws, which would still result in a much better build overall ;) |

" I just did. Nevertheless to stay on topic, here are my final thoughts. Hitting these huge walls because of the XP penalty has prevented me from playing this game much more than I actually do. Many hours going into the garbage because of seconds, respeccing is too expensive if one wishes to experiment with a build and try modifications. When I am in the mood of playing POE I do it for a while, then hit the wall, unistall, break for many months, repeat. I did read build guides, watch videos, etc. I also watched some streamers however I could not learn much form them as they tend to zip around the map. I have two achievements on steam Diminishing return for the L90 and the Emperor for finishing the lab on hardest difficulty, both of them are under 10% achieved related to all the players. That being said I achieved nothing, expect maybe being ready to start the endgame. What do 90% of the people do? Is this really a game just for the "elite"? |

" No. You simply cant trust the numbers on Steam. Its not that the numbers were wrong, its the fact that this game is free. Millions did download the game and quit within the first few hours for all sorts of reasons. This is inflating the playercount and thus reducing the percentage of players unlocking achievements requiring more than just a "first look". |
