It wasn't dox because the details are public but the gist of what happened was some dude went to reddit complaining that he was banned for his name --- and then bex came and said the ban was justified because she dug through this guys reddit history.

IMO this statement is a call for Reddit detectives to dox (reveal the personal information of) the person in question and is carefully worded ("many", "racist", "genocide", "a lot of content") to make the person look as bad as possible while leaving zero recourse to the person in question. I don't believe this is a statement you can just make up on the spot and post - it reads more like it was crafted by Chris or a lawyer than Bex. And I did look through the person's Reddit history at the time and the "a lot of content" statement wasn't even true. The broader Reddit meta at the time was anti-CCP, and anti-Tencent, due to the...alleged...bad things China is doing to a group of people in their country.

A powerful person leveraging their power to utilize a mob to reveal someone meets my definition of tried to dox. It's a staple tactic of the "commentary"/eceleb community on Youtube to deflect criticism. I don't believe a powerful person would ever broadcast "I had a look through your [x] history and found a lot of [evil] content" with no meaning behind it. I'll don the tinfoil hat and see myself out of the discussion.

I didn't mean to dredge up someone's mistake from a year ago. I simply found it illustrative. Bex has done a really great job as a community moderator. She was just being asked to do way too much damage control, and GGG was correct to move most of her work to behind the scenes.

No matter how vile that person that got called out on reddit Might be, the entity formerly known as Bex and going by Community_team nowadays shouldn't have done that I think.
