How About a Divination Card League?
|
I don't see div cards being used like trading cards, though. They're more akin to tarot cards than anything else, and I can't say I've ever seen anyone treat them like they're playing Yu-Gi-Oh.
However, that doesn't mean there's no possibility of this working if it was treated differently than what the OP suggested. How about you use the cards to change how the zone/map spawns monsters or events? These would not be div cards either (the sheer abundance of them would ruin game balance), but something different yet of a similar design. You turn them in to an NPC before entering a zone/map, and the cards will determine how things in the next area will spawn. Enemies more clustered together? New totems and enemies added to packs which empower the others in new ways? Traps now spawn? Map worldgen drastically altered to be more linear? Lots of possibilities. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! Interesting idea.

So I finally got the psx emulator all configured - was surprisingly a chore, all of the emulators are missing a key component and you have to track it down on the high seas. I assume was some nasty Sony lawsuit or some such.
Dad's old disks worked like a charm, and I was in. Took me a while to find people to play the card game with, but, when I did, it was pretty quick to play a hand. Took about as long as you typical league encounter. You have a series of Number and letters in the upper left hand corner, and you flip cards by marrying a higher number/letter against they weak side. Not as in depth as the real hardcore card games, but a cool way they went about it. |
