How About a Divination Card League?
" Couldn't you just skip the card game if you don't want to do it? How would it be mandatory? I don't like Niko. I skip him. Or Alva. The only ones I do are Sindicate, because I enjoy them. When I see those masters I walk by them. Nobody is holding a gun to my head and making me run them. I treat leagues the same way. I try it out, if I don't enjoy the mechanic, I don't play that league - or I just play the league and don't do the mechanic. I don't think mandatory is the right word for this, given that you can ignore it if you wish. At least with how I have it structured. " mandatory is the right word not doing the active league mechanic sets you back drops are balanced around doing the league mechanic, its the main part of an "expansion" and not some minor sidegame that doesnt affect the gameplay of the remaining game |

adj. Required or commanded by authority; obligatory. adj. Of, having the nature of, or containing a mandate. We can disagree over what we like or don't like. Disagreeing over the definitions of commonly understood words is not on the table. You can hate the idea. You can have and express your opinions on why my idea is, in your opinion, shit. But a completely optional thing is not now, nor will it ever be, "mandatory." Last edited by Sabranic_SilverDeth#2793 on Jun 27, 2021, 8:25:22 PM

" the game beeing balanced around the new league mechanic in new leagues makes it mandatory its like saying "you can drive your car/ride your bike with flat tires it works... this doesnt mean its not mandatory to drive/ride it with the tires intact or it will have "serious" drawbacks Last edited by ciel289#7228 on Jun 27, 2021, 8:43:37 PM

You are incorrect. None of this is mandatory. You are wrong on that point. Decidedly so.

I honestly like this idea.
I always felt Divinations cards could use some spotlight, and certainly the concept of a tavern where one can play cards, is not something strange. We have Thanes Lab, Menagerie, Rogue Harbor, etc. So it's not a new concept, and I think a lot of people would actually partake in a form of card dual played with Div cards. There are so many good card games, there certainly is no lack of examples of how this could be implemented. They done the ground work at PoECon already... Card games are also very popular, and could do wonders for the deteriorating player retention. "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. " ~ Hunter S Thompson ~ Last edited by Marinxar#3048 on Jun 28, 2021, 9:02:12 AM

So, I did a bit more photo-shop work, combined with some nice art culled from ye-olde-interwebs, and thought up an NPC...
Meet Schedgewick Flibbert: ![]() Exiled for cheating against Dominus in a game of chance, Schedgewick is an affable fellow, who enjoys good drink, fast women, and winning at the gambling tables. He is of course smooth only in his own mind, and he will make a move on every single female hideout NPC, only to be shot down. I'll prepared for the dangers of Wraeclast, he gloms onto the Exile for protection, Each time you encounter him, he should be surrounded by a pack of monsters beating on him, as he kneels on the ground, quivering in terror, with his hands clasped behind his head, in a defensive crouch. (The monster pack should have a very very high chance of dropping some divination cards as you kill them). After you rescue him, he'll offer to play a quick round of the card game, and offer some fun quips. Some Quotes as you encounter him: - "Exile! Help! I'm too handsome to die!!!" - "Over here! Quick! They're putting holes in my Theopolian silk shirt!" - "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! What will all the world's lasses do if I perish!?" - "Ouch! Ow! Ow, Ow, OW... Not the face, PLEASE not the face..." - "Heeeeeeellllllllp Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!" - "Ooof... some of these... ARGH... stupid beasts... just can't... ouch... take a joke!" Last edited by Sabranic_SilverDeth#2793 on Jun 28, 2021, 9:48:49 AM

The internet outrage/taunts/ridicule would be way too hard if GGG announced PoE-divination card game. Even as a league mechanic. I don't see this happening. Nor do I think it is something I would enjoy personally. Even if I love card games myself.

A Cool Combo Card Battle Concept:
"The Surgeon, The Doctor, The Nurse & The Patient." The patient could be a wandering around without his head and always have a bloodline mod - the patient will re-spawn in a new form each time it dies. The nurse could be casting random curses at you, while the surgeon is putting up random aura totems. The doctor will first attack The Patient, and steal his bloodline mod. Tie the battles in with the subject matter of the cards. |

I just finished downloading a psx emulator, and I will try out my dad's old FF8 save and see what that card game is like.
