How is this different from Diablo 3?

@WAWAMELONS

EDIT: Overreacted a bit, I thought it was just gonna be a POE sucks rant.

There are some truths to what you said, but it's a little opinionated.
Also, a lot of the stuff you mentioned is unfinished because it's in beta.

And as I stated a couple of times in the post, we are discussing the current state of both games so the "it's still in beta" excuse is irrelevant to a person making a decision between the two now. Who knows how long it'll be in beta or how long the current issues will take to be addressed.

He just asked for the differences between the two.
Obviously they'll have trade features and improved balance in the full release of the game.
He didn't say anything about the current state of the game.

Pretty much no innovation at all

Passive skill tree just creates the Illusion of choice

Combat is still spam one skill

The only thing slightly going for it is support gems but Diablo 3 has that but its called runes

So if you wanna play a updated version of Diablo 2 then this is the game but if you want innovation Diablo 3 is the game to go to

Please don't do this, you just look like a douche now.

And when will this full release arrive? Who knows? Could be a year from now for all we know, and nothing is guaranteed in terms of addressing these issues. He asked for the differences and I listed them. What the differences might be a year from now are irrelevant.

Although his reply was in a harsher tone, he's right about the tree and combat.

"Potions"-
In POE You get flasks, which heal, or restore mana, or do some other utility such as resists, or armour, or crits. They can have random magic affixes like other items, and are permanent. They use charges when you drink them, and regain charges when you kill enemies.

In D3 You have more traditional health potions, but with a long cooldown(30 seconds I think?). Mana potions have been eliminated, and there were some sort of utility type ones listed in the past, but they might be gone.

D3 also has the health globes that randomly are occuring by killing monsters and to heal your character has to touch them, this adds a strategic element in the battle.

Agreed. There's also some passive skills (and most likely item modifiers as well) that add to the amount of life/mana generated from these globes and how often they drop. I'm sure this comes into play for Hell & Inferno difficulties. It adds another nice strategic element.
