How is this different from Diablo 3?

Find out for yourself in 40 minutes. It would take forever to sit here and list all the differences with Diablo 3. I would more compare it to Diablo 2. If you are a fan of this genre, I would take some time today and try it out. Worth a shot.

It's a fair question, and certainly one I think most of us asked of ourselves upon finding Path of Exile.
But the answer is definitely 'try it for yourself' -- and hey, full open weekend! Have fun! If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I came here 5 days ago after feeling betrayed by D3. I saw videos of POE and I was impressed so hard that I bought the Silver package with my rather limited "unemployed guy" funds.
I think it's one of the best game purchases I made. EVER. 'nuff said! And yes, in less than 1 hour the Open Beta starts. Enjoy! My article promoting PoE:

I've been looking for some kind of diamond in the rough like this. I've always been a fan of dungeon crawlers and rogue-likes, and D3 didn't really impress me at all. It seemed too linear, atmosphere didn't fit. This is definitely more up my alley.

The passive skill tree and skill gem systems are the main draws for me.
Not having played D3, I can't say much else about other gameplay elements. |
