Do I loose everything in PO2?

Well, as long as I can play and kill monsters in any capacity and eventually save Bannon from his fate - game mechanic changes don't really matter much. Unless they limit the amount of minions you can use. Then that'll really make me unhappy.

Damn... I was so fixed on it being a fresh start overall. Shame, but understandable.
It's a long way off, and "fresh start over" isn't off the table. The only thing they promise is that the purchaces we've made will still be available. I'm still hoping for some kind of comic book style reboot.
PoE2 should be a separate game, IMO. No carry over of loot between the 2 games.

why not? You don't have to play standard.

Why not just give everyone a character level/item editor who plays standard league? Why stop with free stuff in a new game, just give everyone everything they want in that league?

How do your comments support taking away stuff earned in standard? Why stop there? Maybe take away everything when you start a new character in league play?

Maybe I should get to keep the items I got in D2 in D2R, how does that sound? Would you support this? If so, at least you'd be consistent, and I'd at least respect such an opinion.
Some of the proposed changes in PoE 2:

"

Players will also be given the option to sacrifice a skill gem and transfer its experience points and level onto an identical skill gem. This feature is useful if you find a skill gem of the same skill you have been using and have more sockets available.

Support gems can be socketed into active skill gems. In addition to account for single support gems supporting multiple active skill gems, meta-skill gems will also be introduced where the reverse is true: these are gems that go into the primary sockets and can have active skill gems socketed into them. For example, the Proficiency skill gem allows socketing auras into them as well as support gems. It will reduce the mana cost of any socketed gems and since it is a skill gem itself, it can also be cast to toggle all socketed auras at the same time. [4]

Items will have a fixed number of sockets based on their item class:

2 hand weapons: 4 Sockets
1 hand weapons and Shields: 2 Sockets
Body Armour: 2 Sockets
Gloves: 1 Socket
Boots: 1 Socket
Helmets: 1 Socket
This means a total of 9 sockets for primary skill gems are available.

Primary sockets are still coloured based on the primary attribute associated with the item. This means strength bases have red sockets, intelligence bases have blue sockets and dexterity bases have green sockets. Hybrid items have hybrid primary sockets accordingly, so for example a strength/dexterity hybrid will have a red/green hybrid socket. In late game (maps) there will be a currency item available to change the colour of primary sockets.

Hybrid socket on the strength/dexterity hybrid skull cap (as seen on exilecon)
Certain items like items (for example

Tabula Rasa
) may add additional primary sockets.

Updated tabula rasa with 3 white sockets instead of the default 2 (as seen on exilecon)
Items that add skills will add a skill to the skill screen where the skill can be socketed separately. The number of sockets on these skills can be rerolled.

Those items you have in standard league right now are going to have to be refactored any way to work with the new system. Which means, when you equip a 6L armor on a PoE 2 character, it's not gonna be 6L anymore. It'll be set to whatever the limit is for that item, 2 sockets, or in certain cases like Tabula Rasa, 3 sockets.

ALSO

You will have to reroll the number of sockets on skills yourself, meaning you won't just be given a 6L for free on a skill, just because you were a Standard League player with ZOMGwtf pwnz0r equipment.

So, all this uber gear standard league players have is going to be force refactored, and likely have its stats refactored to the current version of the item if it was legacy, same as using a divine orb on it. If that ends up being the case, and it should, you would honestly be better off obtaining PoE 2 versions of these items, rather than ripping your legacy uniques just to have them immediately in PoE 2.

Whether you keep the items or not, you're certainly not going to keep them "as is" in PoE 2, regardless of how you wanna slice it.

So "getting new gear for PoE 2 characters" is probably gonna be the best option anyway.

And the value of these legacy items is going to plummet. Well-rolled rares will still be worth quite a bit of currency though.

However, if you're a gambling person who's betting on there not being a stat refactor on these items, only socket refactors, then you should buy 1000 HP Kaoms armors up right now, because they'll be even more OP in PoE 2. Because you'd only be giving up 2-3 sockets vs 6 linked ones for that extra 1000 HP, and more builds are going to want them. Probably be worth 3-4x as many mirrors as they are now. However, if they force a stat refactor on it, which they should IMO, because it would be way too OP in PoE 2's system, they'll drop in value.

I an not sure what this is talking about? Sorry If it is talking about Diablo then that is apples and oranges. Diablo was a purchased game and would run stand alone without using the Internet. IIRC correctly Diablo items were sometimes carried across to new add-ons to the game.

Thank you for providing the GGG description.

Perhaps GGG will destroy all items in standard? I assume that will not occur though. The items will more likely be modified to match the new rules for items. At least that's my guess.

I don't see why it would be better for people to have their items all deleted rather than modified to fit within the PoE new rules for items? For example, why would we want our unique item collection in their unique stash tab deleted or all our catalysts, currency, maps, fossils, oils, etc. deleted?
