[burnout] just a little rant about how the game (d)evolved for me

Sounds to me like you gave up playing for fun and are now simply playing for "profit"... what ever that is.

Then you got me wrong...i never dropped an eternal orb or a mirror, not even mirror shard or any card related to that currency ever dropped to me and i was never interested in farming currency, at a certain point i was forced to grind some currency but that never bothered me enough as it is now and i always did all the possible endgame content every league with one or two chars tops

Imho they should just void every league and go more crazy, with balancing, drops etc.
And dont bloat up every league with all the previous stuff.

this also plays a major role in my burnout, we got so many uniques and gems that GGG has to nerf many of the working builds, items and mechanics to make space for new stuff
and the real pain is that even though the drop poll is so diluted, the drops are still very skewed/weighted, i can drop over 30 items like redbeak on maps to get a single "rarer" unique like Hiltless that is not even that good that even rarer drops like shav or kaom's feel like lottery...this analogy apply to div cards as well

Times when games were made for players are gone a long time ago man. Now games are made to make money. It’s sad but it’s true..

True, but there are some hidden jewels in this gaming industry like doom 2016
in an unfair comparison because of companies' size, GTA V/Online management also has the same milking mentality, but they are way less intrusive when balancing stuff to make way for the new and they retain a lot of players on their servers
Im going to rant a little about balance.

From time to time i sneak peak other players what are they playing (for curiosity and inspiration). Yesterday I found one playing with Mind of the council helm which everyone considers garbage/trash_tier and i thought-
-did someone finally found a good use for it?
Then i checked that build on pob and was amazed, stats- 95% evasion 60%/60% dodge and 8-12m dps, 3k life with 9k mana, 50% mom agnostic,
-thats actaully really good- i thought.
But then started to think-
-no, i dont believe he made a build this good with this helmet, smth is off.
And then looked for burning arrow in poeninja and sorted builds by dps, top build had 17m dps, thought-
-well its not that much more maybe that mind of the council build was actually good, no, i still dont believe it.
Then i moved that "17m" (with no mind of the council) build to pob and here we go- whopping 112m dps. That interesting mind of the council build only works because burning arrow is broken.

They gave up on balance years ago. Too complex for that. They just wait until something gets to be too popular and then nerf it. Most stuff gets its day in the sun. There are always going to be mechanics you can exploit to reduce the game to mindlessness.
The game is getting easier with every patch though.

We're gonna need some industrial digging equipment if we're ever gonna get Spectral Shield Throw to see sunlight.
This is a buff™
Bleed spectral shield throw is amazing although it does require some investment if you want single target damage. You are basically invincible and can even go do some delving thanks to gladiator's passive.

or spectral throw.
I will first try to explain what i consider the nature of online ARPGs: For me online Arpgs are a middle term between roguelikes and mmos. In the left we have roguelikes where the journey is the most important part and in the right we have mmos where the destination is the most important part.

Back in the beta, the game was pretty much all about the journey(specially if you played hardcore and the race events), the destination was cool, but the journey was where the true fun was.

Fast forward to today, and it's easy to see that GGG added a thousand and one "work systems" (really popular in MMOs), and the game kinda went too hard to the mmo side. At the same time they also added a bunch of "bad mechanics" for hardcore while also somehow worsening the performance of the game after each expansion, thus killing their "hardcore" population. And i am not going to talk about the removal of the racing seasons.

Right now the journey is getting less and less fun as more system are being added into the game due to the combat balance which is completely wacky (be immune to everything, recover your entire life each second, explode(in most cases literally) the entire screen each second) combined with too many work to do (unveil, level heist, delve, map bonus, maven bonus, etc).

So old players that liked poe for the journey will feel the game is getting worse and worse from what it was while players that either enjoy stockmarket or the destination will like more and more the mmo poe.

I would love to play some of the beginning content. right not to me ( I am fairly new) I started about 3 years ago on pc, moved to console. I don't know even 1/2 of the story lines (league npc's) that are there and don't know why most of them are still in the game. over the few years I picked up some but over all its confusing for the new players I believe.

Mind was always pretty good for Arc/lightning builds... helped so much for surviving regular mapping with MoM and also reflect but was nerfed. Used to be shock and get 3% mana back. With Arc chain 3 more times enchant you'd get up to 30% of mana back each "shot" on a pack instantly 60% of mana with echo. You could tank nearly any juiced map.

Git R Dun!
