I guess I should have skipped this map???

Hate losing all of my exp because, randomly, an enemy can legit 1-shot me, when the rest of the game can't scratch me for the last 3 days...

This kind of crap always gets me with PoE. Smooth sailing, smooth sailing, smooth sailing... then one totally arbitrary enemy can smash you for about 10k damage post-mitigations.

How am I supposed to have expected this? The game doesn't lead up to something like this happening. On the contrary, it teaches me that it WON'T happen - until, out of nowhere, it does.

Is this maybe a boss that people tend to skip if they get some map mods for damage???

100%+ damage as fire
29% increased boss damage
accuracy translates to extra damage
lady stormflay hits hard (double or not doesn't even matter)
Most likely shocked due to specific boss being quite a nasty one in melee range.

Personally i am not surprised. That would likely have killed me as well if i tried face tanking it.
Those are not great mods put together as they all stack.
Endgame seems to be working as intended
- Dodge/EV build on a accuracy/lower dodge chance map.

- Boss with high base damage that already converts physical to lightning damage with 2 damage mods on the map but no elemental damage mitigation on the build.

You've survived the last 3 days because you play a dodge/EV build and got lucky but now you lost the dice roll. This will happen every couple of days if you don't know about certain bosses or dangerous situations.

However, it will make it more obvious to you if you should've avoided something. In the end you got overconfident because of dodge/EV even tho your gear seems very basic and not ready for T14+ with damage mods.
But I've been t16'ing, and fought Sirus and could take hits from him, as well.

I'm aware I run dodge to protect myself from the masses (and serving as a QoL vs bosses) but MANY bosses with map mods have hit me before, and I can live it. This boss just hit me differently than the others, lol.

It's annoying because I go in again, thinking, "Hmm, I must have taken a bunch of hits from all the enemies, that probably won't happen again." But that wasn't it at all, so I just go in to get 1-shot again.

Death recap sure would be nifty............

(Maybe GGG doesn't want people to see the silly numbers some enemies can randomly be putting out?)

I have max resists, lol. Most people don't run additional ele-specific mitigations.
having 75% max resists is not a 'oh look at my incredible elemental resistance'. its a BARE MINIMUM part of a build. it does not make you 'tanky'. it makes the game playable.
It's likely that you just didn't have shock immunity up. It's always worth taking a shock flask when you fight Stormflay, but it's especially important when she has extra damage mods.

This just falls in the category of knowing the boss abilities better, and understanding which mods are particularly dangerous for your build or with certain bosses.
I consider anything less than ~11k effective health to be one-shottable. So... play energy shield if you want to have a ginormous health pool. Otherwise play carefully.

Yes, but saying that I have "no elemental mitigation" implies that I neglected my resists.

I'm completely impervious to elemental ailments, actually. :)

Funny enough, my ES gear tends to be unable to get higher than barely 10k ES. My chest armor is only about 520 ES, for example. (Although I have a nice 400+ shield, at least.)

I really hate playing ES, to be honest. I hate not being able to slam a potion to heal, and generally hate ES's recovery either way.

Unpopular opinion, I know, but that's just me. I despise playing ES, lol.

My EHP on this build is ridico-high with Arcane Cloak up, but... well TBH I'm not sure if I was dying here THROUGH it, or if it was off of me both times... Wish I knew, but too late now anyway.

Then you clearly didn't die to shock.

In addition to the extra damage mods, her projectiles auto-hit for significant damage if her melee attack hits, and I believe she can also inflict vulnerability.

She's just a nasty piece of work.
You're playing a proper tank this time. A very zoomy one as well. Can go very far with this for sure. Have you considered Stone aura instead of Grace? Kinda a waste for 35% aura on Essence Worm but I kinda trust blind mechanic more than pure evasion.
