The explody chest mod made the game way too stall. Every build that could afford it used it. It had to go this is one of the changes i agree with.
ya, agreed.
i dont think balancing something like that via rarity/price is good either, you dont want to keep it and then just make sure only 1% of players can afford it and say ok now its balanced via rarity... no, once an entire slot is just 1 option, even if thats only for players above a certain level of wealth, its still terrible for build diversity and the prices of other potential items in that slot. everything else becomes a "levelling item" or a "budget stand in" and no one is going to pay decent money for them, no one is going to feel good about wearing one, everyone is going to feel like their build is shit without that item, regardless of how unrealistic it is for them to get one.
it just had to go.
Well shockingly, I totally disagree.
This again is GGG balance, using a sledgehammer, when a scalpel would have done.
Most players are/were not face rolling the content with exploding chests, multiple T1 influenced items, and TFT Discord Harvest abominations.
All GGG continues to do is hamstring average player, for no real benefit I can see, to address the minority of 40-challenge elites, no-lifers, and streamers.
All they have accomplished is frustrating 99% of the players base, and mildly inconveniencing the elites and rich. Good work GGG, what an amazing league and balance strategy. Numbers look great /s

Everything getting nerfed all the time just pigeon-holes more people into the same builds. You need a certain level of speed and ez clear to pull currency in easy and that's what people are going to do.

Just came back this year to get ready for poe2
And it sure feels like melee gear is horrible compared to all the spell gear i've found
And the fact that spells don't even need accuracy to hit whats the point in even playing a marauder any more

its not about facerolling content or average player woes. its about 1 mod on a rare chest being bis and feeling irreplaceable on the majority of builds. its simply bad game design, bad item design, bad for the games gearing meta.
got nothing to do with streamers and no lifers, rly not sure how you are trying to crowbar that into this picture and make it some sort of working class manifesto against the evil 1%ers but it really has nothing to do with any of that.
arpgs are about viable, convincing options in building/gearing. if one thing is so dominant that it removes the alternatives from the equation it is simply awful for the game. the entire reason this is an arpg and not simply a twinstick arcade shooter with default weapons and skills is because its a game about those options, theyre THE reason the game exists. keeping an array of compelling options is in turn fundamental to the games balance, its an extremely basic foundational principal of this sort of game that is essential to the game functioning.

this mod existing pigeonholed the majority of people playing endgame into a chest with this mod being their bis chest, removing it increases variety in gearing and as a consequence building, as builds who could take advantage of the mod to a greater extent instantly become significantly better as a result of its existence.
not nerfing items like this does exactly what youre complaining about, its entirely the other way around.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Could we stop acting like most average players even had an explody chest nevermind 99% of them? Even with old harvest that statement is nonsense all the more so without it. That chest was the BIS toy of the 1% and now they have to look for a new one. Big Deal. Meanwhile 99% of the average players out there don‘t give a shit because they never had one to begin with.

Keep fighting the good fight, but unfortunately many players are missing why the long-term health of the game matters more than short-term gratification.
Now, I’ve got plenty of complaints about this league. Ultimatums are frankly too hard, and lock out a lot of builds. Performance has been awful for me, and remains so. But boy do I not miss chaining atolls all day every day, because it was far and away the best way to progress in terms of wealth and gear.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
