Dear PoE Content Creators & Build builder / writer...

Problem is this won't work the way you want it to, even if people add their ingame tooltip number, it's meaningless because it doesn't consider dozens of factors that influence real dps.
So you would get a screenshot with 20k dps, same as yours ingame, but your build won't even do a tenth of the damage as in the guide because you are missing some/all the factors the tooltip doesn't show. It's only going to cause confusion. |

" You're right that there are downstream consequences to any system change. This one could cause more confusion in some instances. It would also save confusion in others. If a guide says someone does 20m PoB dps and someone thinks they copied everything correctly but isn't getting the same results, the problem could be ANYWHERE. With an in-town checkpoint, if the guide says 200k unbuffed, in-town, tooltip dps and your says 150k, you still don't know exactly where to look, but now you know where you don't have to bother looking. In this case you can check: gear gem links passive tree you don't have to check: auras flasks buffs conditional debuffs on enemies chance procs Idk, I don't follow guides for my characters but I read them sometimes and I feel like I can see the utility of this. |

" Valid wish but I fear it may still mislead you in thinking you have accurately followed the guide but in reality that is not the case. Most builds especially the high damage/defense builds (multiple damage/defense sources, etc.) start at almost the same value/only with small differences without the scaling but scales insanely because of some interactions/conditions, you may have missed a node/gem/etc and that might register just a tiny difference in tooltip at hideout but it can become a huge gap when all buffs/interactions are in place. However, I guess this will be still useful at times when starting a build. Obtaining the ratio might be good but not sure if build authors have the patience formulating that. |

A lot of POB builds are straight bullsh*t.
I dont know how many times ive opened somebodies POB and i see: All flasks ticked. Builds written before the HP boss/rare buff that are updated as "viable" in current patch but have god awful single target. Enemies are shocked. Conditionals aka killed recently... against bosses... Not a boss aka, shaper/elder or Sirus is not selected. Maximum charges when the build gains them conditionally, sometimes mysterious charges from out their ass. Oh this build gains 4 power charges but only if you swap a shield in before a boss fight and press this flask and do everything in 10 seconds. Gladiator builds with MAX BLOCK !!! only if you have killed and been hit recently... Freaking Vaal RF. League starters with lvl 28+ gems lol. I once saw a guy with a 130 point skill tree in a quite popular thread. Another guy with 10links on his skill... all ticked no sub section for awakened. I wish there was a way for POB to have a 1 click button for say Sirus/Maven/Cortex that only shows the base damage with conditionals ONLY granted by using the main skill. This way people can import their items over someones pob and click the button and be like oh yep im about 40% off this guys gear. Alas we have to sift through loads of sneaky crap just to work out if a build is legit. Last edited by stormyknight#7628 on Apr 27, 2021, 1:49:03 PM
