Do streamers get bonus drops?

My 2 cents to this topic as programmer.

d for every single item drop, I think you can assume how this would sum up.
Besides that, every additional line of code, every corner case has the potential to a) cause unwanted problems or b) hurts the performance.

And we all know that performance in poe is shit, so this is true then ? : )=
tbh don't really care about loot drops tbh x'D since i hate to trade, i do care that they had the rights to skip the queue since i do love to play. so good thing they removed that from the future :) and if they break that promise then oof even more people will be pissed at them i bet x'D
3.26 when?
Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.

Good point! But this could still mean 2 things:
a) the performance is shit because of this
b) with stuff like this added, things would get even worse (and yes, it can ALWAYS get worse)
You say Prison Cell, I hear 'Holiday'.

About the bonus loot etc for streamers:

From a programmers pov I can clearly say no. Lets say we have 100k players and 100 privileged streamers. That would mean they would have to do a check that hits for 0.1% of the players every time one of those functions is called.

Not necessary. When you enter an area (or log in, or create a char, dunno when exactly), the RNG is instantiated and seeded. In most RNG implementations, the seed absolutely affects the outcome. So all GGG would have to do is influence this seeding, once. Not at every drop.

Chris has said they tune down the luck of accounts suspected of being bots. So obviously they can do this without hassles.

Do they, though?
Dunno, would previously always have said "hell no", but am down to "probably not" after that league start.
In my eyes, the damage to their reputation (and thus their - voluntary - revenue stream) is done the moment this suspicion moves from "tin foil hattiness" to "sure it's possible". I have no idea how they can repair that damage.
May your maps be bountiful, exile

This depends on the implemention details, but I agree with you, if they have already a function to tune drops down, they can also use this function (or at least alter it without much trouble) in order to tune them up.

About the reputation loss, I agree with you. Claims that are hard to verify/falsify die very hard and every "event" like this, has the potential to strenghten people in their belives.

I used to really enjoy being smug with the conspiracy blokes. Can't do that anymore since plausible deniability is gone. Oh well, thankfully there are some folks around who seem happy to pick up the slack.

I agree with most of your posts in the thread, especially that there's no point in GGG saying any more. People will believe what they want to believe and those of us who know enough to say 'I don't know' can do naught but wait and see what they do at their next opportunity(ies) to deliver a fair league launch.

It sucks that now we have to wonder though. Used to be we didn't. Of course everyone is treated the same, that's the way the game has always been. Never had to waste synapse sparks considering otherwise.
I would love to tell you no, I have said for many years that streamers do not get special drop rates and good drops.

However, now I have to say it absolutely possible. If GGG wants to prove it, we need proof, we need data, we need to know.

My trust has been shaken to having no trust whatsoever in the company.

This is how games die, this is how games never get back up.
