"Abyss jewel adjustments"
In the preview video of the coming league it was said, let me paraphrase it, that abyss jewels come to their old glory or whatever.
Now I read all this stuff " Is that it? More FlAT Regen, chance of avoiding ailments, flat chaos and flat added whatever damage FOR MINIONS? After the 20-30% value nerf of all DESIRABLE stats (life, mana, crit multiplier, flat ele damage for attacks with certain weapons) on abyss jewels you come with this _LITERAL SHIT_ and call it a comeback of abyss league content? Yes. Abyss jewel content should be a thing just like other league stuff exactly as they said in the preview videa. Just buffing useless stats while leaving desiarble stats mediocre at best compared to other league crafting/skilltree choices like delirium jewels or even normal jewels does not fullfil that promise.
A crimson jewel can have a "18% crit multi on elemental attacks" in a single mod slot. An abyss jewel has 12% at best. 7% increased maximum life vs 30 flat life? And the flat ele damage nerfs combined with the super low chance to roll high tier mods makes flat ele attack scaling unreasonable to be played insted of phys conversion scaling or pure phys. Life why even bother with abyss jewels at this point, just craft a crimson jewels at this point or go for delirium jewels. This balance thing does NOTHING. Or what about all the "1% fire penetration if you have been critted recently and got groceries for grandma and filing the yearly tax report recently" mods. 1% ele penetration for a jewel mod is not much, if you consider there are 7% increased life and 18% crit multi mods. idk if people noticed but jewels are going to be "Well Rolled" when dropped from the abyssal chest. If old talisman and heist cases are an example of this, it might be more common to find some juicy 3-4 modded jewels.
Obviously only from abyssal league troves. But it gives a reason to do them. Might even see some replica shroud builds. |

You guys seem to forget that thanks to crimson jewel buff in 3.7 I think, 30%-50% crit multi jewels or jewels with 7% inc life roll are pretty normal nowadays.
Back in 3.1 100 flat ele damage on a good abyss jewel was op as fuck. But whats more OP, 50% crit multi or 120 flat ele damage? The crit multi is more OP I think. Not to mention that crimson jewel is not a league mechanic, its just a default drop. It just exists since perandus league and drops from whatever garbage mobs and at ilvl 60 you can roll already all fancy mods on it, it doesnt have to be measured against other league mechanics like delirium and doesnt require ilvl 84 bases that only drop at certain content. Reverting the 10-30% values nerf on significant mods like flat mana, life and ele damage would be the least thing they could do to get them back in line and to make them at least compete with FUCKING crimson jewels to make the abyss content in maps and delve worth the time. " I want to add on to this that harvest crafting on crimson/viridian/cobalt jewels is still going to be alive and well in 3.14, since jewels by definition can't be influenced and I made several multi-exalt jewels in Ritual through targeted harvest recipes. I'm glad abyss jewels are getting some love and it should give us a lot more reason to use abyss-socketed gear, but I still can't see myself using them in passive tree sockets. |

I don't think abyss jewels are supposed to compete directly with regular ones. Their niche is abyss sockets. You can't put a crimson jewel in a stygian vise or rare with abyss socket suffix.
Similarly, you CAN put a regular jewel in a cluster jewel slot, but it's suboptimal except in rare situations. Украина в моём сердце

Indeed, maybe some of the unique abyss related items will get some use again. Not everyone is a crit multi build, which in that case can be somewhat closer in terms of damage.
Plus those new unique abyss jewels, we only seen 1 of them I believe which is kind of weird but technically does give crit multi per jewel but only in off hand. We'll see on the others. Also, between fossils and the abyss nodes on the atlas. You can have rares with abyssal sockets in them. All in all, I really like this one. It's not so stupid that everyone just starts using only abyss jewels.. but they are on the table atleast to be considered imo. |
