Compendium of refutations to arguments on the topic of - "Pay to win in Path of Exile"

Whether it is or not ptw never bothered me much. I've spent a fair amount on this game , but never felt I had to.
Already proven that you don't need to buy more tabs to win, or any tabs at all, the only difference is the player and how little they want to be inconvenienced.

some people pay for private leagues with mods such as no storage access. lol

imagine not having any storage, just your inventory. that would....suck

Just because someone can do something that someone else can't isn't "unfair".

Sounds pretty unfair to me.

If you can't avoid 'problematic' hypocrisy in point 1, why bother with the rest?

Laying down definitions for words is a standard procedure for pretty much every intellectual discussion. If that's hypocrisy for you then I guess I'll have to live with that.

Even the most P2W mobile games have plenty of people who feel the same as you, but the game still stays as a P2W game.

The "need" isn't a productive word because it doesn't say anything. You don't need to pay for even the most P2W game imaginable. We don't need to do anything ever anywhere.

Very well written. I agree with everything (based on the definition provided!).

I wish he would always write like that and do without the bragging.

Is there even a game where you can clearly "win" with money in a manner where it doesn't qualify as an "advantage"?

Yup plenty of them in the past.

Most people who even indulge in PoE being pay to win have never seen a pay to win game.

Perfect World by PWE was a prime example of pay to win, you could buy weapons in that game that cost excess of $15000 usd (just 1 sword mind you) and easily like 1v20 or more if you spent enough money, these items were also %100 unobtainable to free players.

There is also mobile games many of which are pay to win, to be honest though most p2w MMORPGS are gone and the people who developed them mostly moved into mobile games, we used to get an influx of a new Western pay to win MMORPG every couple a months, that dried up a few years back when the studios realised how much more money they can make of mobile games.

The biggest oddity to me is why it matters, i mean this league i got a Head Hunter from my very first craft in beastiry , walked in did 1 random unique craft, almost fell out my chair.

Now anyone who sees me wearing it or selling it has no idea how i got it, yet somehow players will claim they cant enjoy the game if someone can just drop 20 bucks and get a head hunter, whats the difference ?

Neither scenario changes them grinding 6 days at 14 hours a day or whatever they did to achieve it , i cant understand the logic of these people at all, its like the game isnt here to be enjoyed for them, caring about how others get gear or do anything isnt even on my radar to begin with.

edit after wall of text, i agree with op, pay for advantage is real, without my premium tabs i am incomplete

That's not a direct win though as clearly it is possible to win against the person who spent 15,000 USD. Even if it's a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance - the argument stands that it's just an advantage, not an immediate win through paying.

It's easy to make philosophical arguments of what one ought to do in a perfect world but the reality is that we inevitably do compare ourselves with each other; even far more basic animals than us get upset when their peers receive a better reward than they do - plenty of funny animal videos to watch on that (:

It is a %0 chance to beat someone in 30k usd of gear as a free player, you will lose 100/100 times. Infact in true pay to win games that guy will 1-2 shot every free player lol.

As i said , if you even entertain the idea of PoE being pay to win, you never saw the real pay to win games and why the term even exists.

The difference is apples and oranges.
