Nerf Berserk, Arcane Cloak, Arcane Surge, Agnostic, Low-Life, Righteous Fire, and Fortify

the vocal group that play games to 'feel superior' is astonishing. more so that they dont - for some reason - play competetive games, they play games where cheeze is the name of the game and you can 'win' vs people who actually dont care.


buffing is always good? they have been doing that for last few years and the game is stagnating in terms of playerbase reach despite having no real competition. maybe that strategy isnt working after all? the league dropoff is identical (more or less) each league. hype is enough to fuel people for few weeks and they are gone. as if basics of gameplay loop were bit.. lacking after all.

issues with loot, performance, ABHORRENT rng gated content requiring insane time 'investment' (waste.. waste is the correct word here), UX from late 20th century and stuff

add to that greed-based multiplayer - the only reason to play with friends is to get more rare beasts and split precious heist rewards. otherwise it is shockingly bad experience - people run at different speeds, noone can see anything, if you are not the 'cleaner' then you are the 'mopper', there is no fight at all..

no wonder Valheim gets all the praise it gets, i bet at least some people who quit POE for now are playing Valheim. it was kinda refreshing to actually play with people for sake of playing with people, not getting 30% more loot


so, maybe buffing all the time is a one way to the absurdity that only people with extremely low challenge threshold can take seriously? game without a challenge? it is not a game anymore
To feel superior in competitve games you actually have to be good at them. Most people that need to fuel their selfconfidence via gaming aren't actually good at it so that's not really astonishing if you think about it. Games like POE where you can just invest a lot of time to feed your superiority complex work much better for that.

I'd also like to point out two basic facts that people should keep in mind when talking about POE Ninja and "the meta".

1) 30% of players playing BV and Golems means that 70% of players play something else
2) POE Ninja shows a very specific group of players and their preferences. I.e the group that focusses on leveling to 100. PSN BV HH Assassins might be really good for quick and easy mapping/leveling, but those builds won't win any competition when it comes to fighting endgame bosses where having 4k hp and a useless belt is a bit of a hindrance.

Thats not an option given the power creep of the last years. If anything monsters need to quadruple HP and up the action speed so they finally can hit the player back ocassionaly. Maybe some players will think twice before they go no defence Abyssus build then.

The required approach is to nerf the top end stuff:

- Transcendence for example making so that armour applies with 50% of its value AND Evasion CANNOT be converted to armour.

- Fortify Stacking for example limit the increased fortify effect to like 150% cap

- Maximum Resistance stacking there are too many options to reach 90% max resist but aura effect stacking is big part of the problem. I dunno a solution to this maybe limiting the max res to 80 where the default is 75%

- Intelligence stacking provides massive ES and let the player skip all ES nodes on the tree while still maintaining tripple the ES value compared to life. Suggestion: 10 Intelligence provides 2% spell damage instead of 2% maximum global ES. If not kill completely then 1% spell damage and 1% max ES.

- Chainbreaker invidalidates the whole Berserker ascendancy and Warcry Cluster jewels. Quatering the mana regen efficiency would be an approach to this. So you get the best buff in the game with serious investment and not just 3 mana regen suffixes and a jewel slot.

- Cheese mechanics like Poison stacking with close to zero offense investment need some iteration its too strong offensively for too little investmen

- Reworking Explody chest prefix its too generic providing improvement and saftey for any build. Just overall too good. Suggestion is to make corpse explode by 10% chance

- All the Blade* caster skills are overperforming. Bladevortex being the most prominent example.

- Last but not least: Headhunter limited to 3 Stolen mods so the game doesnt looks like a cheesed hackfest.

I don't want to win against any human players, I want to clear whole screen of MONSTERS and be invincible, because it's fun. It's not a PvP game.

Because single game isn't supposed to be played 360days/24/7, taking breaks is important as well.
Not to say that plenty of people reporting playing 3.13 much more because of BUFFS like Atlas Passive Trees. Buffs do work.

Now just need to revert stealth nerf to Harbinger watchstone and it would fix everything.

The reason to play with friends is because they're friends, it's more fun.
It's not really good idea to party up for rewards, since each player is just 50% more items, which means that everyone gets 1.5/2 = 75% of rewards.

Multiplayer with good builds and friends in voice chat is quite fine.

how can you make AR worthwhile (it sucks at 20k just the same btw) if most endgame bosses kill you with elemental damage and ground degens? Armour is only useful if you stack it for Aegis Aurora (lol) or Transcedence.

the best source of AR is not gear, it is conversion from mana or EV. AR being a prefix is big part of the problem because it competes for slot with +life, +%life and explody mod. what sane person will pick %AR prefix given the alternatives?

wrong. it wont EVER reach the same defensive value as 350ES shield on a Hybrid character doing 50/50 life/es damage split. i have a meme Replica Restless Ward Inquisitor who casually and unconditionally regens 1600 to BOTH ES and Life at the same time and i havent even min maxed it. gear i use for that is GARBAGE. no AR/EV pure life build can ever reach this type of sustain, not even old slayer leech

Armour.. is useless. Imbalanced Guard is a proof GGG knows it as well. they give you 100% AR for 1 passive and it still sucks. (yada yada white mobs yada yada. wrong, it just sucks)

state of 'bottom part of the tree' defences is a reason why passive tree heatmap looks the same each league since 'life nodes nerf in open beta'. AR is worthless, EV can be replaced with one abyss jewel and sand stance. fortify effect comes from focus, helmet and anoint. you are left with 6k life buffer and a conditional steel skin or molten shell. 'defences'.

life/AR/EV archetype has been the worst choice in years. yada yada it works, i know it works yada yada. everything else works much, much better, cheaper and most importantly - it works everywhere. MoM characters benefit from their defences in EVERY content. AR/EV goes naked into fights like Aul or Maven

the eternal fight between reducing damage and increasing the buffer. unconditional buffer always wins. AR/EV do not increase any buffer and both are XXX-only. recipe for disaster.


the only solution to AR being 100% worthless is to change the formula and swap reduction ordering. first reduce it with fortify, end charges and stuff and THEN apply armour to much smaller value. otherwise AR saves you from small hits and thats it. or MASSIVELY increase AR rolls on items. so a regular white astral gives you 2000.
and make it do SOMETHING against dots ffs

right now noone serious will advocate for AR/EV life characters because they know - it does not cut it, not anymore. thats the reason we get sub 1% popularity of these classes etc. their archetype defensive mechanic choice sucks.
