Here's why Molten strike is one of the best Skill Gems in the game.
" Alch and go T16, maybe with sextants/scarabs from time to time doing all mechanics, maybe not with 100% success rate but 80-90%. Time per map 5 minutes at most. With 10 EX budget, no matter the skill, if you can't do this much then you are just doing it wrong. I am no fan of Moltenstrike, imo GGG totally messed up that skill, personally i consider it one of the worst Melee skills there is in it's current state but if i slap it onto any of my melee builds i can guarantee you they will be able to do this much. And i won't need my explody chest for that which, btw, isn't even that great on most melee builds including molten strike because you won't be scaling it enough to really feel the explosions. I hardly see a difference on my Champion between Ex chest and without. Also, stuff like clearing both generals in a Legion spawn goes way beyond meta/non meta or good/bad skill. Aside from raw dps you need a skill with massive AOE to clear a full legion with 2 generals. Not every meta skill has that while some off meta skills do. I mean there is a reason why ED/Con was way more popular during legion than in any league that followed. PS i guess the experiment is a failure, so let's get on with the flamewars.. " It's all about expectations. If you scale your damage via the possible options, you will ALWAYS finish Alch & go, sextants + scarabs, heck even chiseled + vaaled on most T16 - you might need to pay attention to reflect % mods or no regen/leech - WITH ANY DAMN SKILL these days, DUE TO THE DAMN ASININE POWER CREEP. And if you know what the @#&% are you doing, and use an > very strict filter, you will do so with <10 min spent... Heck, I do that with RT non-DoT scaling, so I know perfectly what the @#&% is "possible" on end game. If you want to manage the above with "more juice" in "less time", your necessary investment DPS wise spikes, as you actually need REAL >10-15 MIL DPS for a T19 100% juiced deli with manageable and/or difficult mods, to be ran in a "timely" manner. I'm the damn slow poke that still grabs his scrolls, as I always tend to play 99% SSF, and I enjoy taking my time, but please do acknowledge that due to all the newly introduced asinine "TIME WALLS", we're all forced to RUSH THROUGH THE DAMN CONTENT because otherwise it feels WE'RE WASTING OUR TIME NOT RUNNING OTHER CONTENT AS FAST AS WE DO... @#&% THAT!!! I play PoE in my own way, in my own time, with my own builds (mostly), and my own expectations. And thankfully, I still manage to have enough "FUN" to still play it despite the damn technical performance going AWOL, and proper QoL improvements being MIA >.< As soon as you only "work" and neglect "fun", you're better off moving to another damn game... PS: You were on point with the circlejerk due to the main reason that we (and TencentGGG too for that matter) can't seem to agree about the basis of the comparation - what is the minimal relevant requirement to feel you manage yourself vs end game. PSS: I have an RT MS Glad with a slow clear speed that manages most bosses, and I could make him bearable to a "decent" clear speed by only swapping to AC on MS, but I actually prefer to have him serve a purpose. THE REAL PROBLEM OF OLD SCHOOL "REAL MELEE" SKILLS IS THAT THEY LACK A TRUE PURPOSE... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
