i fully agree , like it was said . PoE 2 will have controller support

i play with a good friend and she is limited on builds to play , which get nerfed every league too.
arthritis and ra lots of players could enjoy games better, and builds here .
Hope this does happen for players , thanks in advance .
One thing that can help your mouse hand tremendously is to get your most use skill off of L-click and over onto the keypad. It has helped me a lot with the tendonitis in my right hand by not needing to click except to move.

Just curious if anyone has tried a gaming keypad with thumbstick.

That should put everything on the left hand, for folks who have issues with the right. (Which I know is not everyone...)

I'm sure the thumbstick feels quite different to the mouse, but I'm wondering whether folks have made it work ok.

People forget sometimes that the console versions of PoE are, in fact, easier than on PC to accommodate the sloppier less precise control scheme of a controller. GGG will (hopefully) never do that on PC, which means they can't really add controller support without it just sucking overall. heck even on the 'easier' consoles PoE is still unbearable on a controller

basically this, officially. GGG has publicly stated they are not adding controller support for PC a few times over the years

while your comment may have been true in the past, it is not anymore. Chris said it's on the roadmap before PoE2

For convenience, here is Chris' comment from the reddit thread:

The PC and console version share a source code base, but no work has yet gone into making controller support work in the PC version. It'd basically involve switching it over to something like a "console mode" for the UI (which is controller-friendly) but we need to do a bunch of work to make that possible on PC. This is on the roadmap before PoE2 alongside hopefully mouse/keyboard support on Console. Ideally it won't matter which platform you play on.

Not to necro an old thread but I have an idea for joystick controlling the cursor that would I think could make it unnecessary to change much up with the UI
Basically, you can code both joysticks to act in conjunction. The left joystick could be a mouse region which is centered at the center of the displayed area. This joystick controls the cursor position, but if the other joystick is tilted, that joystick takes over the cursor - The secondary joystick is also a region, but it's center is the position of the primary (left joystick).
So as you move the left joystick around, the right joystick's region centerpoint moves along with it. Ideally, using both regions, you can reach any point on the screen without the cursor being shaky from too sensitive of a cursor.

The reason I think this would make extensive UI changes unnecessary is that I think you could have fine enough control over the cursor using both joysticks like described.

Thats the PoE community in my experience, don't listen to that, I'd love to show you how to play with a controller. I have carpel tunnel and have been playing with a controller using steam overlay for years. Here's how.

Install PoE on steam or add PoE as a non-steam game. Launch PoE from big screen mode, this will enable the ingame overlay, so you can configure the controls ingame, and it also makes the touchpad on PS4 controllers work, which I use.

Through the ingame steam overlay, go to "controller configuration" -> browse configs -> community configs and look around for one that you like.

I like this one: steam://controllerconfig/238960/2505493744 "Keeptruckings POE binding 02.06.21" it give you lots of functionality and makes use of the PS4 controllers touchpad with radial menus.

It will take a little getting used to, and there are many ways you could play with a controller. Keeptrucking uses a snapping left stick for moving and a straight mouse controlling righ stick for clicking buttons etc, and left and right stick clicks for using potions.

I hope you find a layout that works for you.

Cheers.

controller support would be great

I agree with controller support in game helping a lot.

Until then people with wrist pain might look at these alternative options for making a controller work on POE.

There is steep learning curve. I recommend making a new character since gameplay slower early on or play tier 1 maps while learning controller.
