Way way waaayyyy back in the day during a race event I was playing marauder in a party and we got to Vaal Oversoul. I had good gear and had taken every defense point I could so far. I decided to tank an overhead smash to show off just how tanky I was. I'll leave it to the reader's imagination to guess at how poorly that went.
Why can't some (SOME) rare abilities do a % of your life, to keep them dangerous and special, without making them a one-shot all the time?

dmg reduction doesnt matter, as u can see that immortal call does NOTHING when reducing BOTH physical and elemental resistance.

Also i tried for the lols with negativ resistance, took again arround 2000-2200 damage per orb.

So yeah its a fixed damage ammount like a corpse explosion, you cannot block it, you cannot dodge it, you cannot evade it.

I try to get a Gluttony of Elements and proc that, if i still get dmg then we can 100% say its not Elemental (would heal me instead) nor Chaos damage (since i am CI).
I can't think of a worse mechanic than one which you can't evade, can't dodge, can't block, can't mitigate in any way, and if it hits you it one-shots you. That would be a terrible, horrible mechanic.

It's reasonable to me that if it does a fixed amount if damage, that it's a fixed amount of damage that a decently specced build can recover from.

there is not a single player above level 90 who has below 5000 Life/ES (and thats UNBUFFED IN TOWN value) so in map they all have easy 6k+




your "i only go damage and dont care for defence idea", never worked since poe launch, you are in the wrong game, we had this discussion 5 years ago already "Why i always die in this game, bullshit..." .. this is not diablo.... If you dont take Life/ES notes u are dead!

Guess why there is the rule of thump 400 Life/ES per act -> act 10: 4000life/es -> yellow maps: 5k+ -> red maps: 6+

game is not balanced if u don't need brain and can just move through every projectile without the risk of dieing.

There is enough stuff in the game which you cannot move through unless you are very geared. It is fine the way it is.

Some of these hits should do percent HP/ES damage. So that maybe the orb does 2000 damage + 40% of whatever ES/HP you have.
Anything that totally ignores block and IC/mitigation should not be in an online-only game, just saying.

I realize they're trying to be edgy and weed out people with slow reaction times, but if you've made it to the maven battle, it's unlikely "hand-eye incompetence" still play a large part in a player's death chance.

What will always plague players, no matter their skill level? Lag, graphics stuttering, server hiccups, and load issues.

I'm ok with the balls being like hydra balls or shaper balls. You step in one of those, and it will kill you if you don't move out of the way soon. You can see your hp dropping, you are chilled, maybe frozen, your passive regen drops to shit.

But it's not an unequivocal insta rip. So if you have enough regen, enough mitigation, capped res, antifreeze flask, high spell block, steelskin, etc. you can in fact be immobilized by lag and still squeak through.

First week of league with a record number of clients connecting is NOT the time to whine that the maven balls are gimpy. I just got kicked out of Twilight Strand for the second time in the same hour while farming onis. Says I need to be logged in to pick up that small mana flask. These here forums are GROANING under the weight of all the unwashed witch feet traipsing across the rickety bridge.

Even when it's NOT this bad, when things are running smoothly and the league is "dead", there's hiccups and bugs and your card can't handle all the deli condiments and you dc. Not really comforting to know that this can happen when a glorified unblockable DD rover ball the size of Jupiter is going to fill the screen and pop you like a bubble.
