[SOLUTION] HOW TO STOP CONSTANT FPS DROPS AND CRASHES
Hi everyone,
As many of you, I have been experiencing a lot of problems on POE for no reason. My setup is quite decent and there was no explanation about those constant problems. I have been trying to solve the problem by changing Nvidia options, updating drivers & all but nothing happened. But when I was looking desperately at my task manager, I saw : "PathOfExile_x64Steam"... Then the magic happened. SOLUTION : - Go to your Path of Exile folder : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile - There is two programs "PathOfExile_x64Steam" And "PathOfExileSteam". Right click on "PathOfExileSteam" and launch as an administrator. - Your game is now in x32 and not x64. Your HDD will now work correctly. I hope this solve your problem as it did for me. Cya ! " Before you post a solution, describe what it actually does. 1. You are apparently running the game on hdd, poe essentially requires an ssd, it's arguably the biggest performance boost you can get. 2. x32 is for ancient systems, you said your set up was decent...decent in what measure if ancient generation software architecture runs better than the new one? Most poeple, and by most i mean vast majority should never ever under any circumstances run 32bit version, it's a performance loss across the line unless.....you have a really old system, or something really wrong with your pc. No rest for the wicked.

Nothing changed for me with this advice.

Hi,
Actually, my game runs automatically on my SDD which is apparently in x32. My HDD is x64, and the game was running in x64 for this reason I guess. I just chose the correct program for my setup. My setup : AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 16 Gb RAM HDD 1To SDD 250Go Sorry for the post if it is not clear enough. My english is not that good and I was just so happy that I finally found a solution. |

It worked!
Appreciate it man! Running the game off of a 2 TB M.2 RTX 3090 I9-10900K 32GB Ram @3600 Could barely play prior to using this fix. -Vash Last edited by Vashz#4982 on Jan 18, 2021, 3:02:07 PM

" x32 and x64 are CPU architectures. Your HDD and SDD are neither of those :) x32 - 32bit binary. maximal memory use 4GB (usually 2GB), not allowed to use 64bit extensions of your cpu x64 - 64bit binary. maximal memory use virtually unlimited, can use advanced computing capabilities of your CPU. It is certainly odd the 32bit version works better for you while 64bit version don't, but I am not denying you are speaking the truth. Possibly this is worth of looking into by GGG as there seems to be multiple cases when 64bit version does not behave as it should and using 32bit instead improves performance and/or stability for some people. |

Please do not open threads saying completely random shit as if it was advice. Magic isn't real and wishful thinking is not a solution.

I mean, with how weird this game is with bugs and performance, I wouldn’t rule out this solution completely. It could have something to do with the limited amount of memory a 32bit program can use, or just some random shit vs the 64bit client that makes it less crash prone.
