PSA - Rituals trap and re-use monsters

Something very cool about the Ritual mechanic, is monsters trapped in one shrine seem to appear in other shrines in the same area.

I got lucky and spawned a unique Merveil Daughter next to a shrine in Act 1.
She proceeded to spawn in all 3 shrine encounters and was worth a lot of points.

This is very cool especially if you can control what juicy stompers get trapped and tracked!

(Insert joke about all the good monsters getting trapped inside walls and impassable terrain)

This is actually a major desing flaw.

Since bosses give the best tribute, you should always first run the ritual with the boss and only then go for the rest of the rituals, This way you get the boss spawning on all the rituals and significantly more tribute.

In practice this means backtracking, which is just frustrating.

I expect GGG to rework this so that you get the same tribute regadless of the order you run the rituals in.

Just because you expect something doesn't mean it's going to happen. And just because you find something frustrating doesn't mean it's not working as intended.

are his points invalid??

also im not sure if bosses and stuff give much more tribute. they might, but i haven't noticed it. im trying to test this but its really difficult with the extreme fluctuation in tribute between maps and such already

im sure we'll get the answer in the next couple days

It's a desing flaw assuming GGG does not want to introduce unneccessary frustrating elements. Backtracking is commonly considered to be a frustrating, so It's not just me either.

It could be that they already considered this and the tribute is in fact not affected by the order. It is not that straightforward to test this, so I'm not sure. It seems like a reasonable assumption, however, that unique monsters give more tribute (and drops) and there are some unique monsters that come with a lot of adds. I guess will find out soon enough.

As for expectations always coming to pass, I reckon very few would claim something like that. I certainly did not.
backtracking is nothing new. do you not participate in deliriums ever?

I quite dislike running deliriums actually.

Having a mechanic that promotes backtracking, is no reason to have more backtracking. Or should we just have, say, traps in every map then?
