Shaper of flames and fire trap

So the shaper of flames effect (elementalist): "25 more damage of ignites you inflict.." wont work on the fire trap, because of the keyword "you" - right ?

Thanks in advance...

It... should apply, since Trap, Mines and Totems are proxies - this means spells or attacks they perform are based on your statistics and bonus. They only get awarded of kills and on-Hit effects. I'd expect so an Ignition from a Fire Trap should get the 25% more damage from Shaper of Flames.

That said, that 25% will not boost the Burning Ground damage from that skill.

Thank you. But now Im curious, if traps are proxys:

if Im using a ice trap, then my ice trap get the shaper of fire effect "your hits always ignite" ??

I've found this topic on reddit that states that as long the trap is destroyed after use (this mean it would work bad with "Trap can trigger an AdditionalTime"), the hit should count as yours. Never heard of this interaction before, but seems reasonable enough

I also found a simliar topic, and indeed Mark seems to intend "Your hits" = "hits by your skills". So... yeah, your Ice Trap will ignite the enemy under Shaper of Flame.

Thank you again. This is realy helpful.
this situation with "you" and proxies (totems, traps, mines) is often misunderstood even by experienced players who over-complicate it.. but it is surprisingly simple:

1) they use your hits so they use offensive stats you have

2) when on-hit/kill effect is about to do something to enemies (apply debuff etc) it will work with proxies just fine

3) when on-hit/kill effect is about to grant something to you (apply buff, leech life, grant charges etc) it will not work with proxies

4) when enemy dies to Damage over time, kill will by always credited to player

Thank you, Ludvator. Those kind of question arise from time to time, sometime doubt slip in. A rehearse like this can come quite in handy
