Not a fan of the new atlas passive trees.

They require too much repetition of the same map(s) to be made use of. I'd rather have a huge passive tree for each type of encounter you can augment that requires a lot of skillpoints to max but also affects the whole atlas. That way you can target-farm whatever you need at a specific time without too much micromanagment and when you are done with that you can respec into farming something else. That way a lot more atlas respec orbs will be used, unlike the way it is setup now where you just get what you like running and that's that.
I have the same issue with conquerors where you absolutely have to run the same maps in an area to spawn a specific set of conquerors you are missing. I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready. I like the new passive trees. More player agency is always welcome.
However, I do fear that they will increase the game between "dedicated players" and "regular players" even more. Delirium with its 100% maps, and how you could easilly split them in Harvest - as well as grand heists and their splitting mechanics in Heist league, created a massive gap between players. I think this gap will grow larger with the new trees, and "dedicated players" will have a totally different experience than "regular players". We'll see how it turns out. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

i wonder just how rare these orbs/passibes will be.. i remember Pantheon and the initial drop rate of Divine Vessels and im bit scarred
in short - youll might end up reaching lvl94 with 4 passive point unlocks.. sure, GGG makes it sound like if you can get these points easy. but ill wait and see and definitely wont expect to have more than 4 points per region on the other hand, some of these passives are SO ABSURDLY STRONG that it might be plenty enough oh, and the note about 'respec' being not that easy scares me |

" As I understood it, you'll get atlas passive points everytime you fight in/win in/progress in the Maven's arena. So it seems to me that this will be an insane, repetetive grind similar to watchstones, and maybe even worse. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

nowhere does it say 'youll get them after EACH fight'.. :)
you 'get Awakener's orb after defeating Sirus' after all :) |

There are 5 fights, each award 2 points for a total of 10 points per region, so yes it does say after each fight.
As for the OP since you can't save the same boss twice i don't think it will be all that repetitive. After your first encounter with Maven you can call her to any map you run and she will capture the boss for her arena. Both of it is deterministic from what i've seen so far. So you have to run 10 different maps per region with Maeven on them to capture 10 bosses, assuming you beat each iteration of the fight ofc. I don't know yet how it's going to work when you fail. In any case, the capturing shouldn't require much, if any, repetition. Doing the 10 boss fight and Maven herself will require repeated farming of the same region as this is not determnistic but since you can pick what maps to run for that and already have your atlas points this shouldn't be too bad. " This is how I understood it too. Question, though; in the multiple bosses fight, can you gather these from several different atlas regions, or are you limited to only one region? What I'm trying to ask; when you unlock 2 points, are these "global" or region specific? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

It's all on a per region basis. You call Maeven to maps in a region which makes the bosses harder and they are afterwards captured for Mavens arena. You will then get invites to her arena. This is probably rng based while running maps in that region. You fight there and win to get 2 points for that region to allocate. You next invite will then be of higher difficulty with more bosses. It would be interesting to know if you can already capture 10 bosses before your first multiboss fight to get that out of the way first or if you can only continue capturing more bosses after having done the fight.
It's probably going to be quite time intensive to get 10 points for all regions but at the same time, it's not necessary from what i understand. Having the 10 boss fight beaten in 1 region means you can get Maven fights every now and then, just by running maps in the region in question. So the only reason to do the same in other regions would be to get the points there, but if a region doesn't have 10 nodes that you want to have then you have no reason to progess in that region. There will most likely be cases where you will be perfectly fine with having just 2 or 4 points in one region as the other nodes are of no interest to you. " Didn't Chris say that you would get the 10 passives unlocked at around the same time as Sirus A8? That seems to be the progression pace they're aiming for. |
|
" Yes, Chris was quite explicit that this mechanic is aimed at elite and dedicated players. So it is likely to increase the gap. That doesn't bother me, I don't see myself as being in competition with streamers. I play the game for my own enjoyment, not for my status in the hierarchy. If I only have 3 Exalts and somebody else has 3k Exalts, that is entirely irrelevant to me. About the only thing it affects in my gaming experience is that I will encounter more builds that require me to spend currency I don't have. But that isn't a biggie. The problem in the game isn't that there aren't enough builds to try out, it's that there are too many. So filtering the most expensive ones out of the pool and paring down the possibilities is a help rather than a hindrance to me. |
