Least this isn't a Gacha game

A whole different group of people would be here talking about it if it were gacha. They'd probably be fine with it.
Poe is probably the only game i feel proud of to have contributed to its early development even if it only bought the guys a few sodas.
Im glad it is still around and doing well despite all its problems.
If it ever turns into a game where you can just buy power in a shop, im gone for good.
You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.
lootboxes are garbage but they aren't gacha until they start putting skill gems inside and the only way to get them is to roll the dice. Pulling a one armed bandit to attempt to look cool is not the same as pulling a one armed bandit to get required power increases to access parts of the game.

Tbh If anyone who wrote legislation wasn't 70 years old minimum I suspect gacha would be illegal it really isn't any kind of force for good and generally just props up parasites to make more garbage.

Like every korean game is crippled by it, such a waste of so much talent and work!

(Fate Grand/Order). I whale that one occasionally but far from compulsively. And this year being the shitshow that it is, I've put a whole 100 bucks into it.

Do you refer to the real life income with the "shitshow" or to the game?
Since this year's GO introduced probably most OP character in the long time which enables a lot of team compositions (including relatively cheap ones, which doesn't requires to whale or own things like 100% initial charge cards). If there is anything that worth whaling, that is, I don't remember such OP and "mandatory" characters in 2019, in comparison. Unless you just don't like the obvious power creep which was introduced.

Yeah it's a gray area tbh but then you have "incidents" like quin (a streamer) doing a little overspending lmao

The funny thing a lot of people don't realize is streamers can write it off as a business expense. I assure you a streamer as big as Quin is using every tax advantage he can get and is tracking income and expenses very carefully.

While writing things off don't mean you get it for free, it will give him at least some of the cost back through a tax credit.

It is still insane he spent that much just on one set of loot boxes... I'm sure there are some that don't stream that spend more.

I don't know streamer Quin, but you should realize that people outside the US don't have the same crazy system of taxes that we do in the US. Twitch says he's from New Zealand.

Oh I'm pretty sure he made the money back in no time from his followers. It only brought more publicity for the lootboxes.

With this kind of publicity though it's not a very hard imagination exercise to picture an average joe helplessly pulling the lever in search for that elusive armor piece. Is it my problem? Hell no. Is it gambling? Perhaps.

That says more about Quin and less about the game.

There will always be stupid rich people that can spend thousands on futile things.

Doesn't the word 'overspending' imply he is in control though? If I've learned anything from reading countless opinions on the subject, loot boxes are predatory. And if there is a predator, there must be prey. Prey is a victim, and saying that our victim in this case, Quin, has 'overspent' is akin to victim blaming - and that's a no-no.

Please reconsider your post with regard to Quin's feelings as he has been taken advantage of here.
Seriously? You're calling $96 "overspending"? Dude probably makes that much an hour simply by playing a stupid game on the internet.
