does performance matter ?
what would the community think of GGG skipping one league to focus on optimizing and fixing the game for those 3 months?
I can't play this league due to random instances that have permanent 1-2k ping that instantly drops back to 120-150ping when you leave or enter a new instance. i'm just gonna wait till the league dies out then play it, but i'm just a trade league casual. i'd like to hear the Hardcore players opinion of the stability of the game Last bumped on Sep 28, 2020, 8:12:26 PM

it dose nothing.
As shown before when they were on the run up to FoO. They extended legacy league by 3 month, they had a beta running for FoO and they were STILL patching crashes, instance crashes and other bugs. Literally any time they add anything to the game it will break something. And this time round they added a LOT of stuff. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

what if its on your end and not on GGG's?

I play with a steady 16 ms ping on the Texas server, which appears to be located in my neighbor's basement, and have had zero crashes this league.

They will lose to much money and players if they miss one league.
As people suggested, are you sure its not the problem at your end? Because i didnt have a single problem with latency this or any other league and i have REALLY shitty mobile internet |

I'm sure it's not on my end, i tested my ping in 14, D2 and checked my U/D speed on my ISp's site and everything was normal. i rub naps with delerium/ beyonnd and legion all active and it's smooth(well as smooth as PoE can get) but just random maps and some heist contracts (the grand heists seem to do it more often than not) will just brick my connection. the moment i leave the instance it goes back to normal , i can even open the same contract and it'll run normally. i'm not trying to complain, just wanted to know what other people thought . i searched the forums and i know i'm not the only one getting hit by this

Unfortunately skipping a league would likely involve a massive financial hit, and likely not even be efficient.
I mean do you really want your top talent diving into bug fixes, and engine tweaks, or working on character development, skills, PoE2, and more. It sounds good on paper, but not really practical or effective. Essentially GGG should be able to do both. A better question would be "Does GGG have the right talent in place to keep up with desired development pace, at the quality they, and we, expect?" How do you know its not at your end. How do you know that in that second when DC happened didn't something happened that broke your connection somewhere from your PC to the server and you are sure its their server. Did you try to change server and see what happens?
How do you know that some application in the background didnt cause it, mobile phones or other devices that are connected to your router, how do you know that the router didnt have a hick up |

this game needs a new league every 3 months by the end o a league the player base is very tiny and a new league increases it by a lot although this game doesn't feel like it's growing since every time ggg posts player numbers they're about the same every league

Yes performance matters enormously. What I don't give a flying fuck about is special lighting, super cool ways that the water moves and so on. Who even sees that and exactly what impact does it have on the immersion of the game when the whole screen is exploding in bright colours?
So they don't need to skip a league, they need to stop frittering around the edges of the game with pointless efforts and invest effort properly. Bloom has proven to be a damn awful change to the game and while it might improve things visually for some players, it has broken a lot more for others and that is unacceptable. Like a rookie company they refuse to remove it because of the sunk cost fallacy and no doubt ego. Sure, I'm bitter because this is impacting me personally. The dark dungeons are now so dark I can't properly see where I'm going. When I use the Shrouded Shrine I now get a flashing column of light on my character like my own personal strobe light. How marvellous. They don't need to skip a league to work on these things so the MTX money can keep rolling in, but they do need to correctly allocate resources to the things that actually matter and it's obvious QA is not adequately funded. |
