Flammability/frostbite/conductivity has side effects to their element. Penetration gems have literally nothing but penetration.

Awakened gems has nothing to do with this discussion.

so have u already seen an elemental penetration gem to say it is = to all the others in power?

i see no reason to not have a full penetration gem weaker than the focused, it would only make more builds playable.

same with greater spell echoo suport, it doesnt exist, it was just made for the unique, and ggg can change anything they want to balance it if they decide to add it.

i still say to you, u havent seen the new elemental penetration suport gem(if there is one at all)

I never said I did see the actual gem. All I'm saying is if the current gem was to be available normally, it would make the other pen gems useless. It's still possible that the ele pen gem is weaker than the rest, since shroud's ele pen modifier was buffed after all.

The patch notes say they added a vendor recipe for a new support gem. You get two guesses what it is.

There still is elemental proliferation and burn proliferation, so that would apply here, too.
With no changes mentioned to the original penetrations and the stats of elemental penetration granted by Shroud being the same as the normal penetrations, though, they would be obsolete.
However, if you cannot easily get Elemental Penetration, I don't think it's such a big thing.
If you focus on one element, why have penetration for the others? If you do use multiple elements, then getting an EP would be a great boon... and might be an enedgame goal just like getting awakened supports.
