Rumor has it that there's an elemental penetration gem now

Not sure if it's a heist item or a vendor recipe, but can someone point me towards the source of this if it's legit? Been wanting this for wildstrike for ages.

People think that by vendoring the replica version of bitterdream you MIGHT be able to get the gem, not sure if it has been confirmed.

There's probably going to be a vendor recipe by vendoring one of each penetration gems too

I doubt there will be a ele pen gem. If there was what would be the point of specific penetration gems? The only way to use ele pen as of now is through a specific body armor, which is fine since it's locked and gated behind that unique, but having that gem freely available poses identity problems for the other penetration gems.

the replica bitterdream is the source of this rumour. it has 'elemental penetration' as a support mod, and because of how the original behaves when you vendor it (you get all the gems it uses), people think this will also work with the replica.


aaaand Shroud of the Lightless (the original, not the replica) got changed to use a level 25 ele pen. making people think that ele pen will be slightly weaker than the specific pen, and they changed shroud so that it wouldnt be nerfed.

Not true, it can simply have lower values than normal pen gems. Ele pen should not have the same values anyways, as it makes all other pen gems obsolete.

Is there any inherent reason to penalize builds that utilize multiple ele types rather than one? They dont seem particularly stronger or higher dps.

Like curses, there are specific ele focused curses, but then one broad one.

Not sure why supports work differently.

Yea but lv20 ele pen penetrates 37% resistances. So do the other pen gems. So if this ele pen was actually obtainable it really would ruin the other pen gems.

They can always make the ele pen a bit weaker, say it gives 30% pen at lv 20 instead of 37% , so the single ele pen remain relevant

whats the point of the three gems if ele pen exists

it will either stay as a unique mod only or the existing gems need to be buffed
