Blighted maps just don't... make sense.

I know I said I quit. But I decided to waste over 3 Exalts, the last of my currency, on Blight maps as my last ditch effort for this game since they are sometimes fun. I lost in most of these maps.
I have Chilling Tower freeze annointment, and Empowering Tower double damage annointment. Somehow, I can set up a T3 Empower supporting a T3 Chill, T3 Seismic, an Arc, and a Meteor, and I still have enemies leaking through that lane. How??? Who the fuck knows. Don't even fucking get me started on the Proximity Shield bosses, basically FORCING players to address it manually, even though I'm already manually addressing the plethora of other issues going on. Now I'm poor and have like 15 Chaos. These should be easy wins, but I feel like I'm getting fucked by things that shouldn't actually be happening. How is it I can stand there and watch a stupid white zombie enemy slowly drudge its way through a Seismic + Chilling tower, totally unaffected??? What the HELL is going on... Set up a T3 Enhance surrounded by all Arc towers. Unless the path has lightning immune bosses, you are at a disadvantage with virtually every other tower. I only consider cc towers if I have 5-6 Arc towers already within range, and other damaging towers are far worse than Arc. Rings should have Empower or Arc anointments. Maps should be anointed as well.
Finally YOUR dps is required for success. If you cannot pew pew fast enough to support your towers, then you are on too high a difficulty. Never stop moving. Never try to tank minions unless you have an extremely tanky build. Builds that automate your dps have a huge advantage (minions, Blade Vortex, Winter Orb, self-damaging CWDT builds, etc. |

Well I did my last map, and decided to not even use Seismic. That tower legitimately seems to do nothing at all, despite every guide praising it as the best CC tower in the game. I'm guessing there was a huge nerf patch, and nobody bothered to update their guides as usual.
I beat the map, and got a Golden Oil, so that eases my rage for now, lol. Yeah I'm playing melee, Cyclone CoC, so I'm aware of my disadvantage in that regard... :/ I kind of want to go back to my Arma Brander, but I think life leech isn't working as intended with that ability, so I kinda don't want to. I'm not against taking out my Chill annointment, but I worry that bosses will just overflow my map. I can't be everywhere at once, and my DPS is "only" 1.5 mil, so some of these bosses take me a hot second to kill, that by the time I kill one, two more might have approached my pump. Chill towers help in that often a boss is stuck in one and I can do other things first. But yeah, I'm seeing that Arcs are making things easier. My biggest issues are 1) when a ton of bosses happen, 2) proximity shield bosses getting their wave really close while I'm elsewhere, 3) shitty map seeds, I guess, where there's like 6+ lanes non-choked or intertwining, and I just don't have the time and/or resources to cover them with towers. Playing with my friend so he can cover things while I make towers makes it much better. But he hates this game because it's 1-shotsville and I think he also quit the game again, lmao. I wonder if it would be too much to ask for if a player had one or two "pauses" to build some towers, even if it just lasted 10 seconds each, or something. Or of the interface had a shortcut straight to the T4's from T1 so you don't have to clicky clicky clicky... and wait around & shit. I dunno, something... Anything... |

T3 Chill are good, but Glacial Cage towers are better if you just need something that stops on track an enemy, even bosses. Those, and Stone Gaze towers, are the main way to block a large group of enemies no matter their immunity
Proximity Shield enemies can be countered by Arc tower if they are close enough to other enemies, since proximity won't stop Arc chaining from inside there. This is also another reason they are so good. Try to put some Sentinel towers (not just regular towers) near the Pump. Sentinels are a lot, deal quite a lot of damage and are perfect to eliminate that one enemy that keep passing through, or is already in bad shape because of your other damaging towers on its path. You might want to put up also a T4 Enhance for boosting Players and Allies around it if you can, in order to get the extra beef you need for a quick kill, expecially if a boss is slipping through (boss to pump = 20 damage) By my experience, you don't "have" to go for T3 Enhance unless you need to reach towers far from it. I never felt my towers work better when under a T1 Enhance or a T3 Enhance so far. If all of your towers can be clustered around one single Enhance, the better. --- Blight maps are "easier" compared to other loot festas like Legion (albeit less rewarding? Don't know how hard the rewarding system from Domain was hit) or Delirium (SURELY less rewarding), because they do not force you to be a zoomer for the former, or have million DPS for the last 2 waves and/or facing an annoying Kozis of the latter. They won't punish you for not having mirror-tier gear or not jumping around like an epileptic kangaroo - towers and defensive anointments will help you keep the crowd under control. Differently from an actual Tower Defence (unless you played Dungeon Defenders, but that's a whole other story), you must not rely on your tower to do ALL of the job - you still need to move, and you still need to clear the dangerous enemies yourself. Some builds can make this trivial (ranged, minions/totems/mines&traps), some builds will find it more challenging (strike-centric, melee in general). Expecially strike-centric, though I never lost a single T11+ Blight Map with an Infernal Blow no-ignite Proliferation Martyr of Innocence Gladitor (albeit one could argue Infernal Blow is a quite special kind of Strike skill) Addictionally, Anointment for a base tower are not transferred to their T4 version. An anointment for Chilling Towers will do naught for Ice Spear towers or Glacial Cage towers, and vice-versa. Keep that in mind when choosing what kind of anointment give to your rings PS: The "10 second pause", or the introduction of Delirium-like waves would be a most appreciated feature. It's ridiculous one has to keep bonking enemies all around them, having 5000 Resources but not being able to spend it because they can't afford to stop the onslaugh for ten frigging seconds in order to choos and put up what tower goes where. And we on PC have it better because of cursor - don't even want to dredge how Console do that |

" Seismic and chilling towers are for slowing down/stopping enemies and have pretty much the lowest damage output of them all so this is really not surprising. You are running the blighted maps white, don't you? Personally I only use seismic towers and only around the pump and upgrade them to stone gaze towers later on. They're the best slowing towers in my experience. For damage I use arc (for mobs) and meteor (for bosses) towers and always support them with empowering towers. I also have both rings anointed for empowering towers ("Your empowering towers also grant 25% increased damage" and "All towers in the range of your empowering towers have 50% chance to deal double damage") as they improve fireball, meteor, shock nova and arc towers alike. Otherwise it's really a matter of practice to manage building and defending yourself. Unless you're really late in the encounter and have a good tower setup running, some mobs will always come through. |

" Now now, I get the "Safety for educational purpose", but Blighted Maps do not *have* to be run White in order to have minimum difficulty. Magic Blighted Maps can still yield modifiers which do not actually apply because of the unique conditions of those maps, like "Area inhabitated by", "Area has many totems". There is also a chance some modifiers are harmless for the character's build, like reflects, less-armour-and-block or unlucky-dodge-and-evasion. While I do know the mere difficulty of a map (now) increases maximum HP of monsters inside it (A T15 yellow Malachai will have more life than a T15 white Malachai, regardless of yellow bonus), I believe a carefully crafted magic Blighted Map can still be used as a training ground while still retaining an inch of profit. After all, map's IIQ and IIR are the only things that can actually improve the blighted chests' rewards, apart from the Lucky anointments |

" Yes, of course. It's just that OP wouldn't be the first one who'd alch & go their blighted maps so I tend to ask. I would also say an increased monster pack size mod could be beneficial because you'd get more points for building more defences but I never needed it so I don't bother modifying the maps apart from +lucky chest anoints. |

Yeah, I'm familiar with TD's, including Dungeon Defenders (loved the first one). I do find that I'm more successful when I'm more proactive - but I think that's the thing. Sometimes I can't really be as proactive as I want. A lot of it is RNG-based. How the roots spawn, where the towers spawn, etc. Lmfao, gimme a few minutes and I'll upload this ridiculous tower seed I got...
" I mean. I said a lane with Seismic, Chilling, Meteor, and Arc. All four of these. Not just Seismic + Chilling. |

![]() ![]() Look at these tower location seeds, LMAO! I don't even wanna talk about the fact that I built that first one. My options were THESE spots, OR spots right on top of the first two portals, which would serve 0 purpose against any other lanes. I did win this map, probably due to the fact that it seems like a pretty easy map type and/or map seed (whichever dictated that there was only going to be two real places that enemies come from). But imagine if enemies coulda came from 2+ other directions. I would have IMMEDIATELY fell behind, needing to build towers everywhere, but still needing to manually clear the super shitty first lanes, too. Oh, btw, if you're using Arc, Meteor, Fireball, and Shock... You should use the annointment that gives 10% inc damage per type of tower used, no? Including Empowering itself, that's 50% inc damage on your towers, opposed to 25%. I was thinking about doing that, myself. Last edited by ShadyC#1006 on Aug 27, 2020, 7:11:27 PM

" Are you sure about this, as those dont usually effect chest drops at all. "An it harm none, do what you will"
