How to craft a Spellslinger Volatile Dead wand?
Since this got slightly long, a word of caution: The following includes a fairly extensive crafting description: Make sure you read the entire crafting process before getting started. If anything is unclear, ask again before starting to craft.
Well, it is certainly more rare than the flat damage, so it would be worth imprinting and fracturing (make sure to divine it to max value before), but it would take a while to hit flat damage with Harvest. I have no idea what I did wrong in my original calculations, but if you get two suffixes and craft cannot roll caster modifiers, you will need an average of about 124.1 augment / remove add fire crafts to get t1 flat. It seems that spamming aetheric fossils to get +1 to all spell gems (not to all fire spell gems because that would be removed when trying to roll flat fire damage) before you craft the flat fire damage with Harvest is the best approach to get three desirable prefixes from here. So to sum up:
Spoiler
1. Divine your item until the increased fire damage mod reaches the maximum value.
2. Imprint the item while it is still magic. 3. Regal and add prefixes. 4. Fracture a prefix. If it does not fracture increased fire damage, restore the imprint and create another imprint. Repeat until it fractures increased fire damage. 5. Spam aetheric fossils until you get +1 to level of all spell skill gems. This will probably take a few hundred attempts. 6. If you have a third prefix, remove it with Harvest if possible. If it cannot be directly removed with Harvest and is not increased spell damage / mana, clear suffixes (other than the mods you will now augment), augment two caster mods to get cast speed and crit chance with spells and craft cannot roll caster modifiers, then use remove non-caster mod and add caster mod. This will replace the third prefix (because there are no available suffixes) with fire damage over time multiplier, which is the only remaining prefix with a caster tag that does not have the caster metamod tag (chaos damage over time multiplier does not have the caster tag and cold damage over time multiplier has the caster tag and the caster metamod tag). If the third prefix is increased spell damage / mana, you have to gamble on remove a caster mod. If it hits +1 to spells, go back to spamming fossils in step 5.. 7. If you do not have full non-fire suffixes with cannot roll caster modifiers, fill up suffixes with non-fire mods and craft cannot roll caster modifiers. 8. If you do not have a third prefix with the fire tag, craft flat fire damage for four transmutes. 9. Remove / add fire mods until you get t1 flat fire (~124.1 average attempts). 10. Clear the suffixes except for the crafted cannot roll caster modifiers. If necessary, clear all the suffixes and then craft that mod again. 11. Augment crit. 12. Remove / add crit until you get t1 crit multi (average of 12 attempts including the previous step). Skip if you got t1 in the previous step. 13. Remove the crafted cannot roll caster modifiers. 14. Augment a caster mod. 15. If you did not get t1 spell crit in the previous step, craft prefixes cannot be changed. 16. Remove / add caster mods until you get t1 spell crit. Skip if you got t1 in step 14. 17. Replace prefixes cannot be changed with trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill. 18. Use Betrayal to make the quality 28% and use Harvest to make it affect global elemental damage instead of local physical damage. 19. Reroll the value of fire mods with Harvest until you get a perfect roll for flat fire. 20. Reroll the value of crit mods with Harvest until you get a perfect roll for crit multi (spell crit does not matter for this step). 21. Reroll the value of caster mods with Harvest until you get a perfect roll for spell crit. |

@Der_psychopath: Thanks again for the help.
Step 18 can be removed since that has already been achieved 30% quality and 2% quality gives 1% elemental damage. I'm now hunting for an imprint beast. After I get that I'll be imprinting the wand and then regal / aug it for 3 prefixes and then fracture it, got the t4 seed almost ready for farming. That plan would indeed give me a mighty fine wand. I believe there is a 4 fossil combo to practically force +1 to all spell skills, though that would be expensive I think. For a slightly lesser wand I could also do: - use harvest craft to get fire and caster related prefixes - fill up suffixes with removable stuff - harvest craft fire (aug / annul + aug) for t1 flat fire damage - harvest craft caster (aug / annul + aug) for fire damage to spells - remove suffixes - craft prefixes cannot be changed - harvest craft crit (aug + annul) for t1 crit multiplier - harvest craft caster for t1 % crit chance to spells - change craft to "trigger socketed spells when you use a skill) My idea isn't as detailed as yours but I think you'll be able to get the gist of what I mean since you know more about crafting then I do. From what I have read, the 4-fossil combo is not quite as reliable as it seems, because it essentially only works if it does not roll 4 affixes, because 4 affixes will result in 3 suffixes and the fractured prefix due to the low weight of the +1 to all spells mod.
I do not know the chances for it, just that some people have reported lower success than what would be expected. I think your idea will mostly work, but crafting cannot roll caster mods or cannot roll attack mods to get crit multi sooner should be cost efficient unless the cost of rerolling crit mods with harvest is significantly cheaper than I am imagining. It improves the chance to hit t1 crit multi from 1/18 to 1/12. If the crafts were extremely expensive, you could even consider multimod with both crafts and then replace non-crit mod with a crit mod for a 1/3 chance to hit multimod (there are no crit prefixes, so there is no risk of losing your prefixes), resulting in an entry cost of an average of 12 ex in exchange for a 1/6 chance to hit t1 crit multi. If 6 remove / add crit rolls are worth more than 10 ex, that option would be more efficient on average. I do not know the actual prices, so this is purely hypothetical. |

Aetheric, corroded, jagged and metallic on a wand with cannot roll caster mods, has only +mana and +1 to all skill gems prefixes.
So if you slap that on the wand and get a prefix it has a good chance of rolling that, would cost about 70c a pop if I'm not mistaken. It has a bunch of suffixes it could roll though. Using only Aetheric, corroded and metallic adds 3 chaos prefixes so this is a slightly cheaper but also doable alternative. I'll first spam some fossils till I run out of them and then try my plan, the +all to spell skills is just too good. So for my plan I should change it up a bit like this then? - use harvest craft to get fire and caster related prefixes - fill up suffixes with removable stuff - harvest craft fire (aug / annul + aug) for t1 flat fire damage - harvest craft caster (aug / annul + aug) for fire damage to spells (or +1 to all fire skills) - remove suffixes ( - craft cannot roll caster mods - harvest craft crit (aug + annul) for t1 crit multiplier - craft prefixes cannot be changed - harvest craft caster for t1 % crit chance to spells - change craft to "trigger socketed spells when you use a skill) |

I do not know the exchange rates for crafts vs. currency (even less if it is self-farmed), but that seems to be a reasonable approach. Hopefully you will get the +1 from the fossils.
