Why are we still unable to rotate items, 7 years after release?..
I mean being able to rotate them between horizontal and vertical in our inventories/stash. Ironically enough, this would make some difference to the value of 2-handers (you know, the very items this patch was supposed to rehabilitate) when deciding whether to store them or not - vertical 2H i.e. the default orientation, don't fit very well with other item types, often resulting in wasted space when keeping them, whereas a horizontal 2H is basically equivalent to just carrying two 2x2 items (helmets, gloves, boots, etc.) side by side (so you can fit a 3x2 item above it). And before anyone points it out - yes, you can stack a 2x2 item vertically as well, but the point is you have a choice in how you arrange them, whereas with 2H as well as 1x4 items you're stuck dealing with their clunky shape.
It doesn't even violate GGG's infamous "weight" excuse for not adding in auto-currency pickup or auto-sorting of our inventories (two other features a lot of players seem to want, unlike the much more divisive auction house suggestion, but GGG refuses to add), but rotated stuff still has "weight" - hell, I can rotate (in more than 2 dimensions too!) real stuff in my bag in real life, so I'm pretty sure this passes the "weight" test as well. But no, even this basic feature that many other games have, and for which there's probably no opposition from the playerbase at all (it might not be the top of anyone's agenda, but I doubt many are actively against having it), still isn't in the game - 7 years later... let's just make all items 1 and 2 squares and only give us a limited number of stashe tabs for all the set items we have to collect

what "many other games" have this feature?? i've NEVER seen it.
and i 100% dont want to play inventory tetris. Last edited by Thror2k5#7154 on Aug 21, 2020, 12:14:23 AM

You already have to play inventory tetris whenever your inventory gets filled. This just makes it easier to do. And if you barely pick anything up, and also seemingly have infinite stash space, then this has no effect on you. Like there's literally zero detriment for that kind of player, while helping others.

"Resident Evil 4 and Deus Ex Human Revolution let you do so. Can't think of many other examples though. Last edited by VolcanoElixir#1787 on Aug 21, 2020, 1:43:05 AM

If the inventory gets an overhaul, I'd rather have an inventory list than rotatable items.
So if your inventory is size x (I think it's 60 squares atm), you can store 7 staves (each size 8 squares - 56 squares filled) and a pair of gloves (size 4). This wouldn't work with the inventory we have now, because you only have a single row of squares under an 2x4 item like a staff. I'm very much against every item using up the same amount of space. An amulet, ring, jewel etc. is much smaller (and lighter) than a friggin 2H-maul, so you should be able to store more rings than 2H-mauls or armour etc. Bird lover of Wraeclast

you should play the game tetris then you will understand how to manage your stash better

You could say the same thing about any feature that this game doesn't have ("7 years later..."). It doesn't make it any more needed or amusing though.
I mean, I see no point in being able to rotate items at all. Even imagining a 2-hander or armour/shield sideways feels ridiculous, not to mention upside down. |

If the game actually dropped you 'big' items worth picking up, I would totally agree with you; this is a problem. But as it stands now, the amount of times my inventory is filled with items that would benefit from rotating them, is very close to zero.
Anyhow, a maximum item size of 2x2 would be a better solution in my opinion. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

You really want an extra step in picking up a drop? That's crazy.
