How RMT has destroyed PoE

This game basically reflects the human nature in a game: Capitalism, Scams, Fame

Streamers RMTing to get the first "Shaper-Kill" with RMT'ed Gear, Streamers who went for the first lvl100 in a league with gear sponsored by their audience.

Scammers trying to get some quick currency to exchange it to Real Money.

Flippers who buy for low and sell for high to get some extra cash.

People who snipe cheap items to sell it for a higher price. (at least one Streamer also did this.)

Crafters who buy their first capital with RMT to afford the crafting process to "Mirror-level-gear" in the game to sell Mirrored-Gear with fees to people for profit which they exchange to Real Money.

People who sell "crafts" (Betrayal-mods) to people who haven't found them yet for overpriced prices to sell the profit for Real Money.

It seems like for some people this game vital for earning real money to

survive.

People who have insane gear with minimal play-time who most likely RMT to have a nice character+build to shred through the game afforded by their real money because they don't have time to play this game 24/7.

It'S so ridiculous. It's disgusting. It's all fake.

"SSF" - Invalid argument.

"Fame lol" - DarthSki44. - Of course fame, in a competitive environment the winner always takes it all.

A game worth playing, where you don't play, instead you buy your stuff with real money? Not participating is like ignoring a big problem and not stating the criticsm.

"OP - take a stance. Don't play.

Move along, and stop being a Karen.

Edit: Hidden profile LOL - RMT much?" - superbomb1967 -
If I'm not content with a product I state my criticsm and I'm not going to ignore the problems with it and I'm not going to recommend to others. "Don't like it, don't play it" - invalid argument.
And no, I don't RMT and I want to be anonymous and I want to be safe because of some people out there.

"The OP's last post before this was from Sep 12, 2011
Somehow, I don't think that they actually play this game," - DoubleU -
Not my main account.

"If someone is richer than you the game is destroyed? How so? What's the impact on you in this matter? Honest question" - Maxwells -
If you are rich, you can buy whatever you want, you can resell it, you can craft whatever you want to use it or to resell it for profit. If you are rich you can get OP gear and be more competitive. It affects the prices of items which other players want to get who have more limited playtime and less budget, making stuff even more harder to get.
The rich get richer.

"OP: "Anyone with more currency than me is a RMT'er."

Also OP: "Anyone with less currency than me has an invalid argument." - Cuberth -
I don't know if you are serious with this comment or...

You can go to Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, China, Russia... A lot of places where "RMT" doesn't excist :)

Got a source on people RMT'ing to get first shaper kill or is this just one of the usual off-med schizos complaining that someone is making more than 10c an hour on stream and therefor must be cheating.
There's no powercreep here. Creep implies it's slow and could be overlooked, this is a full out sprint.
In a really grim way, the prevalence of RMT indicates the game's success. You'd rather have a game so profitable that people are willing to spend real money to cheat at it than one so obscure and unpopular they wouldn't bother -- if such a dichotomy exists, about which I remain ambivalent.

...RMT and bots also give GGG something righteous to make public war on, which is convenient for their moral image given who now owns them.

Me? Jaded? NAH.

But has it 'destroyed' PoE? Not even in the slightest. It's probably even reinforced it in some aspects. Has it destroyed the game's integrity? Not even that (people take bots and RMT for granted in online games, and f2p games in particular), but I imagine it hasn't done it any favours. OTOH it's not even on the top five list of things that have assailed PoE's integrity over the years -- and everything on that list is something with which TencentGGG have been complicit.

At least they're still overtly against RMT and botting.

May they fight that good fight forever.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

RMT is an unwinnable fight because it has no impact on the developers, its only a mild irritant for the players that suffer wallet warriors in their recreation as well as IRL

bots are pretty similar, slightly bigger footprint but aside from very vague effort to remove pretty irrelevant to how the game operates.
