From the number of threads that have been locked with no comment lately when no mod is online, I suspect support is already doing this.

They are. There are a number of spam threads in Off Topic that were locked by Support.

maybe he just took a vacation, and deleted the meet the mods so his inbox doesnt get flooded. also i dont think all of the mods are in the meet your moderators.
