Toronto Gateway - preliminary testing and feedback

Seems like a possibility we are seeing is that Bell and Rogers are peering very oddly with the networklayer.com domain. Your result is closer to what I should expect to see given my proximity to the datacentre.

I usually play on DC or Texas (mainly texas for the past two leagues due to general instability on DC). Typically I am already routed to those datacenters through the Toronto Softlayer site.


Connecting from Ottawa, ON, on Rogers cable.
Getting to the Montreal softlayer center gets routed through the same Toronto servers, for me, though Montreal is otherwise half the geographical distance.

pogchamp 11-20ms in hideout (I'm about 1 hour out from Toronto)
Much better then 30-50ms I get from Washington or Texas

Anecdotal I know, but the new canada server is great

my ping hovers around 49-60. its an average of ~10 less than i would get on texas or washington.

It feels incredibly stable but I assume that's due to the low number of people using it, either way having another server so close and one that eases the East Coast traffic is a very welcome change!
