Lighting Warp skill.
While I do love knowing there is a teleport skill, I have some dissappointments with it.
I can understand not teleporting through walls. Dont want people rushing teleing through the whole act and just rushing through. Should this extend to half walls in the same room? I would like it more if I could tele past that half wall. Being able to tele is the whole reason to being lazy and running around it. This thread has been automatically archived. It's meant primarily as an attack. The movement is just a function of how it works, and a utility you can gain from it.
You can use it to go up/down ledges and to pass over some blocking obstacles (the same things that can be jumped with Leap Slam), but you aren't going to be able to warp through walls with it. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

" I had noticed it did some dmg when you warp, but by time i found it, It had no use as an attack. I like the ease it gives me when jumping ledges and such tho. For now I think itll remain a lil Tele for me. |

It's really meant primarily as an attack? Then why is there a minimum teleport distance, seemingly to prevent you from spamming it in place?

"Because it's not meant as a skill you spam in one place. The basic idea was the ability to cast a distance away before wading into groups of enemies, and it'll pull you out to safety before you die*, damaging the surrounding enemies in the process (and doing damage around where you end up, to discourage people from waiting right at the exit point in PVP. That's not the only way it can be used of course, but it's not meant to be just a straight-up movement skill, nor a spam-in-place attack like a nova, and it not being those things is a feature, not a drawback -it allows it to be good at what it is. It's an unusual skill that rewards thinking and playing a bit differently to most other skills, and personally I love that. *some skill may be required to get the timing right on this | |
Well I'm hoping to give it a good test run on a lightning witch I'm starting. I did notice that you can cast a couple novas before it moves you, which is very intriguing.

I've been playing around with Lightning Warp combinations, and the craziest thing I've seen by far is Lightning Warp + Leap Slam.
Most of the time you just leap slam in place at the exit point (and I haven't been able to leap slam and land faster than lightning warp goes off, though it might be possible and I have no idea what it looks like). Occasionally you can launch out of the target of the warp with a leap slam which hides the wind-up animation and looks like a really cool PvP feint. Lightning Warp + Shield Charge looks like it doesn't have any real merit, though you can do your best "EIGHTY EIGHT MILES AN HOUR" impression by shieldcharging in the direction of the warp target. |

" 3 seconds is a long wait when teleporting from surrounding enemies. I'd really like to be able to use it with my Archer build but I really can't find it useful there.. Got really disappointed actually. Everybody doesn't use melee. Cut the 3sec delay, make it require more mana when the gem is at low level and voila you still can't spam it because the gem would have to be at a very high level until you eventually can transport with it. You can't teleport through walls, teleportation distance is limited and mana is limited. The spell would still be non-superior if that's how you want it. Take Diablo as an example. They invented the genre after all.. Last edited by DecibelAlex#0599 on Dec 22, 2012, 3:29:34 PM

Maybe it should be activated when enemies are nearby? This way you can't transport with it

" And teleport cheapened it significantly. |
