[3.24] The Pestilent Viper 🐍 New video : The Viper (improved) & The Mamba (saved from nerfs !)

Even with Frenzy mods on a Precursor's Emblem ring, I wasn't able to get the 7 Affliction charges against bosses. I had them only while farming, when I needed them the less.



So I've removed the Precursor ring and instead crafted two rings with +1 Min Frenzy (buy rings with one empty suffix, then bench craft for 1ex each).



I've allocated +1 min Frenzy on the tree. With mastery, charges last 20 sec.

I've added Dialla's Malefaction for the quality bonuses.


When put in green sockets :
* Viper Strike of the Mamba has 72% quality = 344% more dmg with poison.
* Awakened Ancestral Call has 50% quality = can find targets 37% further away. A very cool QoL to attack from some distance.

Complete attacks setup :

1- Alchemist's Mark
2- Withering Step
3- Vaal Blight
4- Ambush
5- Viper Strike of the Mamba

8M DPS with 3 Affliction charges, 10M with 7 charges.
With this combo, T16 bosses can be deleted in one hit.
Pinnacle Bosses, the Kings of Mist etc. won't last long either.

/!\ Compared to The Perfect Form, I lose 40% EHP with Dialla's Malefaction. So I die more often.
I wanted to grind up to level 95 but I won't make it with Dialla's.

you need the warden ascendancy for the flask to work...

Sadly, Wildwood won't be added to core game. So no more Tincture and Wildwood ascendancies :'-(
It's a major blow for the Mamba, as it will lose a ton of DPS without the Poisonberry Tincture.

So I'll see whether I can compensate this loss, by adding 2 or 3 Low Tolerance notable on the tree.

This setup allows you to easily cap your elem and chaos res :

1) As usual, with the Mahuxotl' shield and Tempered by War, all cold and lightning dmg taken are converted 50% fire and 50% chaos. So you don't need cold and lightning res at all.

2) With Cowl of the Thermophile, your Fire res is set to 75%. So you don't need to get any Fire res elsewhere.

3) With Cleansed Thoughts on the helmet, your Chaos res is doubled. So simply get 42% and it will be doubled to 84% !(My cap is currently 83%)

4) Ashes of the Stars amulet grants more poison dmg to Viper Strike, more Wither stacks for Withering Steps and more DPS for Plague Bearer.

In 3.24, we'll lose the possibility of putting an instant skill on the left click. I'll see how to best use Withering Steps then.

The first post will be updated before 3.24 launch.

Meanwhile, here is a last video before we say goodbye to the Mamba : this is a video I've wanted to do for some time, a direct comparison between the Mamba and the Viper !

So I've made an Al-Hezmin fight with each of them. Now, who's better ? You be my judge !

With the removal of Tincture, we lose 65% of DPS.
The good news is : I have briefly played the character in Standard (see the last minute of the video) and the DPS is actually not that bad : 3M, against 8M with the Tincture, but without the wisps, the enemies are much weaker. So packs continue to explode quickly and bosses can be killed with a few hits.

So hope remains for the Mamba.
To increase the DPS, the best solution would be more Low Tolerance clusters on the tree : they will grant ~30% more DPS each.

So that's it for Affliction :)
