Kosis is Bullcrap
I had my first Kosis attempt with my gladiator (DonttouchmeREE) which has 90% phys reduction 6k hp 77 or 78% ele resistance and chaos res I dunno
on wave 18 at the simulacrum. (a few weeks ago) and while my damage sucks ass I made it there because I blocked everything before that encounter to death without dying of course ...but this dude, man someone had many bad ideas again unfortunately i tried it before they "fixed" the orbs not disappearing problem which was my downfall all of the arena covered in orbs so even I couldnt survive anyways my point is: this fight gets a 1/10 in simulacrum because dps checks like these are just borderline stupid. I know enough killed him already, its doable just not with my build, but the way youre supposed to build stinks. this game limits you unnecessary and annoyingly so pushing quadrouple millions dps builds and kicking aside everything lower is just dumb |

If I can clear 18 waves of Simulacrum without much issue but can't beat the spawned Kosis in wave 18; not because I mess up on the mechanics but because I can't damage him enough than there is something wrong with balancing (hardly something new I know). I don't think this is on us players but this is a design balancing issue plain a simple. The fact that there are builds who can basically one-shot him just adds to that fact.
It's like trying to clear Hall of the Grandmaster with a Chaos Damage build and no plan B. It's physically impossible to do it. |

" Yes, and this Kosis is core game stuff whereas Hall of Grandmasters is completely optional and unusual content from the core game. " If a player takes 10mins to beat Kosis, they will feel delighted. But this kosis makes any challenge impossible and only favor super high dps rich characters. There isn't alot of black holes in the first week but GGG tweaks it because some players manage to beat the content. This is crap design. |

" To be honest, I actually managed to kill Kosis in my first ever attempt a couple of weeks ago on wave 17 or 18, I can't quite remember. The whole encounter took like 20 minutes and while I initially felt accomplishment I soon felt disappointment when I got absolutely no reward for beating him (other than the wave completion) and reading how others can either melt him or not touch him at all. I only beat him by kiting, cheesing and trying to damage him off screen. It felt more like I was playing an MMO and taking on a high level elite monster that I am not strong enough to beat in a normal and fair fight but rather have to abuse the game mechanics. Thats not what I expect from an ARPG boss fight, especially considering that I don't even know if I could replicate my strategy in a different enviroment the next time I face him (I did since than and it turned out I couldn't). There is no natural power creep mechanic going on. I don't know if I am ready or not. It would be a different thing if the wave would already wreck me, than I would realize that I am probably not ready for this type of content but this is not the case. Right now you are having a great time in Simulacrum, doing fine, not dying getting some nice rewards (or not) and than boom out of nowhere this powerhouse of a monster spawns that is untouchable. You can be a god like player, if you can't damage him enough, you won't beat him. Yes this is bad design. Make him hard, make him challenging, make him the final boss on wave 20 but make him doable for everyone getting that far and make him more rewarding. Whats the point of having a Boss like that, if I already got Assailum for the 100th time off of Omniphobia wave 15? Last edited by PilotLanguste#5643 on May 5, 2020, 1:54:07 PM

" The waves are only as deadly as you and the mods rolled allow them to be. The waves themselves are a poor gauge since they are nameless minion masses. Of my deaths in simulacrum, maybe 3 were from general waves (really lag). The rest were boss-related, but also mainly desync/lag/freezing. It's not so much Kosis as it is the direction game is heading that bothers me. Most of what I played in prior leagues wouldn't survive the current situation with delirium. Yep, totally over league play.

" I agree. I mean its obvious GGG knows the game balance is almost at a point of no return. What are you going to do from now on? You can't really nerf all the popular builds or items too much because people would get angry. You can sneak in minor nerfs sure but how do you justify that next league all the meta builds are weaker than this league (hey last league I had 10mil shaper dps with the same setup and now only 5mil wtf!))? You can't. That's why they significantly buffed monster life and resistences with 3.9. They won't do that again, because that would only lead to a bigger gap between playable and unplayable builds due to endgame content being balanced around meta builds. So whats left is to either buff everything else which would result in a super watered-down game experience, in which the endgame would be trivialized or to do nothing and wait it out for POE 2.0 and have a fresh start when it comes to build and monster balancing. I don't know, we all obviously love this game. Not everything is bad of course but it is heading in a direction of appealing mostly to the elitst gamers and I don't think this is the playerbase that will carry a game and a company for years to come. I think POE 2.0 is gonna be their crossroad and I hope they take the right path. Last edited by PilotLanguste#5643 on May 5, 2020, 6:54:00 PM
