THE ATLAS IS TOO CONFUSING FOR NEW PLAYERS

whats sad is? im not even a new player and i find this infuriating!
i been playing path of exile for the better part of 7 years or so i love this game...well i used too love this game, back when we DIDNT have to use this bullshit mechanic they added to the atlas i shouldnt have to litterally watch a 1 hour youtube tutorial on how to progress in maps just to understand how to kill this so called sirus dude.i remember the days when mapping was far simpler.. when you farm a map of 1 teir drop a teir 2 then so on so forth till you get to what ever lvl map...(when maps actually had lvls not teirs) now you grind to teir 5 maps get stuck... and have no idea wtf your doing "put the watch stones in the citadell " what the hell is a citadel? so you put this magical stone in this altar thing..and voilia the maps in that area become a teir higher
thats all well and good cept for one thing! you dont have a teir 2 beach map so you cant run that map so please GGG explain to me again why this whole atlas thing was a better idea than the way it used to be again? the only way that i can see me getting out of mapurgatory is to buy a ivory watch stone
but i shouldnt have to spend more ciurrency to get to a certian teir map than what the map may or may not drop this dosent make any sense to me

You only have to learn the new system once.

Then make a decision to forget about poe completely xD

Many made this decision already.
Even not finished to learn atlas at full.

Its just boring, inconvenient and toooo much time consuming system for alot of players.

Partly joking and playing drama queen, but at big part this all true actually. And many says so.

I came back to the game for this league after having stopped playing during Synthesis. I had zero issues figuring out the atlas and, no, I didn't watch any youtube videos. It may not have been laid out step-by-step in the game but it was easy to figure it out by placing watchstones and observing what they did to that section of the atlas.

There are some things I do not like about the new atlas but not being able to progress through map tiers is not one of them.
There are two types of POE players:
1) Those who want to walk uphill both ways barefoot on broken glass wearing a blindfold
2) F*cking noobs

I identify as transnational Chinese. May I have access to their QOL features, please?
The atlas is much better now. Map sustain is super easy and they made a bunch of great QoL things for it this league.

If you actually learn the mechanics (not hard at all) the new atlas is far superior to the old.

Ok.

Quite a lot of progression in PoE is in figuring out what's going on and manipulating it to suit your interests. This is a pretty weird game to pick if complication is not your thing.
You follow a quest which gives you step by step instructions.

Or you ignore it and just run maps the classic way.

pretty straightforward in either case.
New atlas is much better. To complete the old one, I always had to buy like 100+ maps, or you have to farm completed maps a lot to progress.

On this mew one, you can force what higher maps you want to drop, there are more ways to get maps, and in the end you have full red atlas, without needing to spend 15c/map to make it t16.
Now I need to buy like 20-40 maps to completw full atlas. Though it's very important to complete all white maps before progressing into yellow/red, since you get close to 100 atlas completion with only whites, and that helps later a lot.
I have to agree on this.

There is no natural progression in the Atlas. You can't simply socket the watchstone you get in your citadel and expect to progress.

You will get stuck if you don't look up how many watchstones you need, then make the decision to leave some regions with no watchstones and others with how many you need.

It leads to situations where you put in 1/2/3 watchstones in every region and cannot progress if you don't focus on only 2-3 regions.

Thats not natural progression, goes against the map drop system (you will drop useless maps), and literally forces you to buy maps from the market (rip SSF).

Sometimes i have a feeling they balance this system for Standard where you can take forever to do the Atlas, but then the focus of this game is clearly on 3 months league, which implies they expect everyone to play 10h a day.
And yes, they expect you to do all the atlas, if you look at the challenges.

After the novelty wore off last season it did start to get on my nerves.

I must say I dislike the new atlas intensely...

I'm now at L87 with my character, and yet is still running T5-6 maps (thus not really progressing the character as the level penalty hits).

I've more or less quit for this league now, and for the same reason as last league... the new atlas...

Focusing on single regions (with more stones) is not actually possible since you won't get the drops to sustain it. You'd have to trade for maps...

Stopping at one character at L87 for a league is not something I've done before in the 6+ years I've played this game... :-(
