Where the hell is "North" in POE?

PoE uses 3 dimensions. Therefore, North-South are on the z-axis, where North is coming out of the screen and South going into the screen. Your character is at [0,0,0]. When you move, the map and everything moves in relation to your character position. So moving North would be the map at [0,0,z] where z <= -1

PoE uses cylindrical coordinates, I'm pretty sure.
