when to switch to CI
" if you are not playing hardcore, you opinion is really irrelevant. go ci at level 20 |

" That is a very narrow-minded answer. I'm not playing hardcore and yet I have zero deaths on my CI character. Your turn. |

" Play hardcore. Your turn. There's so much that goes into this comment chain from him, you, and now me, that it's too much to explain, really. I played softcore for a few months before finally shifting (2 weeks ago) to pure hardcore, and I know why you can't understand what you're not getting. But you NEED to understand what you're not getting. Yes, I played not to die in softcore, too. I kept a mental note of when each build died and why. If it was stupidity I kept another note ready for when I died without stupidity. It's still not hardcore. In hardcore (and in shifting to it): 1. That one really horrible gold boss roll can still kill a good build 2. Disconnects can kill you if you're not tanky enough 3. You're starting with an empty stash at first (ofc, but merits mentioning) 4. Everything costs more in trade 5. When you DO die, you are typically losing some of your best gear My first HC into act 3 was a leap/sweep marauder. I had that nice unique axe with culling strike in the weapon stats, goldrim I bought ASAP, and Sundance boots I'd JUST effing bought. I learned why leap/sweep is a weak build. With good gear I woulda been fine but this was my first char and my highest char so it was crappy gear. Except for the 3 uniques I lost, of course. It was a stupid mistake, leaping after that hasted gold (boss) giant bug with a gold (boss) snake and other snakes around it, in Sarn Slums. Won't do that again. But all my best gear down the drain. So please, can the attitude. If you don't play hardcore, don't give advice to hardcore players. -Aaron |
