I knew my upgrade to an 8 core 16 thread cpu would eventually be good for playing PoE.

don't know when he bought his but anybody looking for a new CPU, save yourself over $100 and buy an AMD 3700x instead for nearly the same gaming performance but better productivity performance and $100 savings

AMD lel

While i must agree with you that AMD absolutely sucks balls in the GPU dept they got their shit together and bringing their A-Game when it comes to processors. Ill never buy one of their GPUs ever again but, their processors are shitting all over Intel right now and have been doing so for a while. Price and Performance wise.
There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear.

ryzen 2 (3xxx) is presently trading blows with Intel in titles it's so good, at lower prices with far more cores; with ddr5 i expect it to overtake it unless Intel gets their shit together.

PoE is only bottledcapped by your gpu and no gpu in the world can run poe at 100 fps at above 1080p.

While I hope more cores helps performance GGG really needs to start reducing monster density and increasing exp/loot to compensate or the game will continue to spiral downwards in terms of end game performance.

eh speak for yourself, my cpu is always bottleneck unless i am in hideout. And that's with a 4790k and gtx 960. IMO POE is a very cpu intensive game.

Also keep in mind bottlenecks aren't a bad thing, something will always be the bottleneck in any computer system and for any workload.

I run a 2700x and I never get frame drops that effect game play at 4k. These processors are great for work flow and multi app usage. The little bit they lose on single core performance is negligible and as we move into the future are much better performance to value ratio. But hey if you want to waste money on Intel because "brand" go right ahead and throw your money away.

I was big on AMD in the past and went AMD on my past 3 builds and had nothing but problems. I am all for having them step up their game and provide legitimate products at value. But after switching over to intel I have had an infinitely better experience.

Obviously a sample size of 1/4 is worthless but as a consumer getting burned 75% of the time is enough to sour the brand for me.

Happy to hear they are working well for others and hopefully that drives progress from every involved company.
