Detonate dead is notorious for killing even the tankiest of builds. Doesnt matter how much defense you have when corpses with a million life are blowing up around you.

If you skip league content - 5k. However, if you are not skipping metamorphs, even 8k wont be enough. You still will get one shot by some bullshit (like taking damage before attack animation).

there is no objective answer. there are a lot of variables.
map mods, your defenses, many many things. you'd need more hp to survive a triple damage map than one without you'd need more hp to survive if you have zero mitigation and only rely on your life pool to stay alive you'd need more hp to survive if you can't instantly kill mobs 2 screens away |

" Due to the recent massive HP multiplier most map entities get now, and the way DD deals a percent of that HP as damage, you only need 1 to die. So yes, it is likely a 1-shot and even if it wasn't, it's still the single biggest sudden death risk in maps. Clearing corpses is only part of it. --ID all strongboxes. Any that detonate corpses? Be able to offscreen the fuckers, or walk on by. --Any time you see revenants (giant spider mites that have long projectile range), eyeball-like trash mobs that generate mini ball lightning, or meat nozzles (not sure what these are called but they look like meat nozzles sticking up out of the ground and explode into little corpse flowers) be alert for DD and clean up or shatter corpses well ahead of your path. --Bone bears made of black bones are bleedsploding bears. These tend to co-occur on maps with other DD/meatsplodey guys. They will wreck you. They explode on death without having to be in LOS of a DD-casting rare monster. In a t16 map or in delve these explosions can do well over 40k-50k damage unmodded. --Maps with red haze and/or gory or fleshy tilesets are infamously riddled with corpse explosion and bleedsplosion effects. This includes but is not limited to: Core, Malformation, Phantasmagoria, Carcass, Crimson Temple, Shrine, and one of the Overgrown maps (starts out with Chamber of Sins tileset but then there's a portal to a section that looks like Maligaro's arena). Siege is another map that people overlook but contains loads of bleedsploding "wights" with their grossly distended bellies. --Know your trash. "Inhabited by demons" vs "Inhabited by abominations". The former sounds scary, but really it's just a bunch of those four-armed succubi that pester you with projectiles, or the occasional imps of Kitava that blast you with fireballs. "Abominations" comprise all the meat nozzles, shocker eyeballs, and bleedsplosion guys/bears you normally find in gore/flesh tilesets - the very DD minefields you are warned about above. Same goes for "increased monster variety" - this is how unwanted trash like revenants and porcupines end up on maps that you think are safe. --Shattering enemies - you'll need a high-frequency damage source and almost 100% freeze chance. Consider modifying your spell armamentarium to have high uptime on things like frost bomb, freezing pulse, elemental ailment proliferation, or freeze/shock combos. Skitterbots work well for preconditioning DD targets well ahead of your travel path. --Volatile dead, soul eater, offerings: These can all be linked to other stuff via CwC, CoC, trigger socketed spell on skill, etc. You can travel in relative safety by flame dashing or shield charging or bodyswapping your way through, triggering multiple iterations of VD or offering of choice as you go. Again, frequency dependent so as to clear all the corpses. If you don't have any wiggle room for stuff to link to, just manually spam the bejeesus out of it yourself until you're satisfied the coast is clear, and then spam it some more for good measure. --Metamorph specific DD: You won't have time to manually do anything except run for your life with this shitshow going on. Freeze/shock/shatter is your friend here. And the best friend of all is Frost bomb from a distance. Thank Toucan they let us freeze metamorphs again. Try to construct your metamorph with a clear "duckblind" in mind so you can physically block the inevitable bleedsplosive charge with the terrain. --We've all seen the rip where someone (?Nguyen?) got his ass hoisted on a yardarm at 300K hp because he took a 1.5m damage DD when Bameth randomly waltzed over and blew the Metamorph boss up under his feet. And that's normal DD, not the juiced Vaal version Bameth can sometimes use. So if you think a single corpse DD is not enough to do the trick, or you think molten shell/VMS/IC are enough to save you...*popcorn* [19:36]#Mirror_stacking_clown: try smoke ganja every day for 10 years and do memory game Last edited by crunkatog#0985 on Feb 15, 2020, 2:46:04 PM

Your title is misleading. What you're really asking is how many HP do you need to be invulnerable, and the answer is "more than you will ever have, if you insist on standing in the bad shit."

DD will kill you regardless of your defences, its pretty much the single most deadly attack in the game :p

5k or 6k if you don't want to play too risky

It doesn't matter as you'll die at some point. Just get as much as you can.
