About that Sirus boss fight.... wtf

Sirus is a thousandfuld easier than Shaper... Even a ten thousandfold easier than Elder.

Problem is the huge RNG wall to spawn him and the crap drops from the ultimate endgame boss.
"There's no thing like random one-shots in this game. You only die because you take 353,456,237 hits in 0.2 seconds."

"The best items in the game should not be crafted, they should be TRADED." - Cent, GGG
There are some mechanics from Sirus that are frustrating if you aren't prepared, but beyond the initial bugs in the fight, I wouldn't call it bad design.

This game is all about the balance of offense and defense in builds. Too often we go all in on offense and hope we won't get hit. Doing mechanics perfectly is great, but for when you make a mistake or get hit, having enough defense to survive is what makes a fight go from frustrating to an easy kill.

My first Sirus kill, since I was not very skilled, was a mana guardian with bleed immunity, 76% resists, chaos immunity, and a few defensive buttons. I skimped hard on offense, only having 600k. It took longer than I wanted, but Sirus went down.

My second Sirus kill was with a holy relics guardian running 8.5k life and much less chaos resistance. Now that I'd learned the mechanics, I ran higher dps and less defense.

ok, so I now personally know 8 friends who have literally stopped playing due to the overwhelming frustration and damn near impossibility of beating Sirus... Is GGG trying to be dark souls like? if so they need to chill on that BS... those games were at least beatable for half of the players... Sirus is only beatable for a tiny fraction of the player base and an even smaller group of builds, and I just dont get why they would keep it like that. I have tried 6 times now, and fukking give up... I know the move sets, I know how to kill him, but it's impossible... I am very close to flying to New Zealand just to shite on GGG personally.

This game used to be so damned fun, why they made these choices is obviously beyond me, but you'd think after using us to test their games for them they would at least listen to more than just the speed clearing, twitch streaming no lifes that can play 80 hours a week.

They are losing players and money, something has to chance and they are too stubborn and arrogant to admit they f*cked up.

so how is it going with D4? Or couldn't you wait and went to Wolcen?
Let me get this straight. Basically you freely admit you and your friends are not good enough so that means GGG is in the wrong. If you don’t like the game, DON’T PLAY IT! Guess what? We like it. I downed Sirus A5 with this trash build you can see now...-37% chaos res if I’m not mistaken. I had 2 deaths just trying to get to the boss after dying while fighting him. That pain is my fault for not being defensively prepared, and my damage isn’t that great either. If I invested into ANY build properly, I’d kill him no joke. Oh, I’ve only killed him one other time on Standard fast enough to not see his mechanics, so I went into that fight blind to most of what he does, given I’ve not looked at a single guide.

In any case, goodbye. I’m happy to see naysayers join the Diablo fan club where everyone is a winner. No challenge? Why would I ever want to earn something? Gimme victory Blizzard! I’ll pay you to win!

It's definitely not impossible. I beat him my first try - I just looked at a video before hand to know what to expect.

Don't get me wrong, I failed my second tries, both in standard and in league (successful first league fight too).

I've beat him on A8 both in standard and league.

I beat him deathless yesterday (on A1 or A2) just to see if it made a difference.

It's not a "good" fight - I much prefer shaper or uber elder, but both of those I still think are harder even now than Sirus...
Yep, totally over league play.

Kill sirus at lvl 89, without trying. Die 1 time due to being lazy and not even with "meta" build, like, is EQ a meta build w/ 0.2% people using it? lol

Don't even have a no corrupted blood jewel.

What do you want GGG to do? Meta build phase him in 1-2s. The only complain I have with sirus, and probably with every other bosses in this game is phasing time, make any fight longer than it should be.
First phase - Sirus is a wimp, turns to a storm ball. you have to run away.

simple.

Second phase - Sirus is wimpish - he starts with his corridor or circles. if you know this and can run away you also can get away with it.

simple.

Third phase - Sirus starts shooting a blue-grayish beam that 1 shot me. and 1 shot everyone i guess. how can you survive that?

so i die.

go back - again, Sirus with his beam again.

let's say i survived this.

Fourth phase - Sirus starts with his "+" shaped laser beams. no prob. the prob is that his 1 shot beam shoots again.

i did sirus a8 at least 6 times. the prob is that i at least 6 times lost all 6 portals.
it's one hard fight. too hard.
I have now killed Sirus level 8 several times, few kills deathless, but I still do not like the fight.

Early stages are are snooze fest that is interrupted by forced retreat. This totally kills the pace for me and artificially prolongs the fight. There is also huge randomness built into these phase transitions as it can take 5 seconds to clear the storm and get under Sirus to force him to go down but sometimes it will be 30+ seconds because the one strom he stays in does not move.

Now, my biggest issue with Sirus is his last phase where he goes all super sayan. He teleports all around and if you miss where he went or just position yourself badly, you will most likely die. This triggers pointlessly long trip through 3 portals to get to him. Problem is you are entering his arena without knowing where exactly he is--this can lead to "funny" situation where you get blasted with "You die!" beam right on entrance. Or he immediately goes into his multiple-statues phase or he teleports away and blasts you withe the beam again. I had an attempt, early when I was still gearing my character, where I died 3 times to his beam in last phase without ever seeing Sirus himself as he blasted me from off screen. That is not fun.

If you manage to keep Sirus in your sights, he is not really difficult. I say this from perspective of a bow bleed character that is highly mobile and need very few attacks to get my damage going on Sirus. All I have to do once I deploy my bleed is to move around him and avoid being hit. I'm sure this is very different fight for melee or more stationary builds and I'm also sure it only adds to their frustration with the fight.

I can relate to this. I rerolled from my Purifying Flame Inquisitor to a Vortex Occultist partly because of how punishing Sirus felt to a build which needs to stand still to get going. The fight is really extremely different with a highly mobile build. With my Occultist I really had time to look at Sirus and follow his moves for the first time. I feel confident that I could do him with my Inquisitor as well, now that I now the fight better, but to learn it I would really recommend a highly mobile (or very tanky, since people seem to be able to get away without dodging many of his mechanics with stacked defenses) build.

I may have been playing for a couple years now, but I'm no where near the top players. And even yet, AL8 siris is one of the easiest end boss fights in the entire game, and I've been playing melee most of the league.

I won't go as far as to say you're a liar about having "8 friends" that ALL quit poe because of this fight, however I am suspicious.

This all said, I see you've got the Xbox symbol going on. Are you playing on console?
