I will be honest. All those "PoE clones" like Last Epoch, Wolcen and other that will come out "soonTM" won't be even comparable to PoE in at least next 5 years.

They will if the "beta" period for 2.0 where they work out the worst bugs is a similar ratio to that for leagues! :V

Regardless of what happens, like I said, I welcome more competition with open arms. If other companies are trying to put similar ARPGs out there, it means they recognize there's an opportunity to be had in stealing GGG's lunch.

Hmm... LE has potential but is in beta and cheapest supporter pack is $35 USD (though I've sunk much more into PoE over the years). It needs to mature more (get closer to v1.0) and I'll need to do a lot more research, watch videos of play and discussions of the skills, build mechanics, passives, etc. before maybe giving it a try.

Same for Wolcen. Just as a quick look to see where they are at currently I found this video:

Final release date for Wolcen - Character Customization Preview

At 33 seconds into the video they show the main dev. team hard at work polishing and testing for their February 13th release date. Nothing unusual and probably not too dissimilar to GGG in their open beta days of PoE. Then at 40 seconds I got a huge LOL from what one of the devs. had on his desk. 2 books, "Tour of C++" and "Competitive Programming 3". I wonder if in GGG's beginnings in 2006 how expert of a C++ coder Jonathan was?

Competitive Programming

The things that we can find through the Internet is amazing. I learned computer programming way back in BI (Before Internet) time, cut my programming teeth on HP Advanced Basic (first desktop computer I got to use), then absorbed everything on my first Apple II+ computer (6502 assembly language is really old school coding), then moved on to Pascal, C and C+ on DOS and early Windows before shifting to computer tech. Now as a partner in a very small WISP where I wear many hats from Linux server operations to customer support to Cisco IOS to hardware installation/repair (that's why after 2 Win 7 to 10 upgrades last week that were perfect and easy I finally ditched my Windows 7 and was presently surprised and pleased to find out that PoE runs so much better on Win 10), etc. See my other thread post on upgrading to Windows 10.

HP first *hifive*

There are still major issues with memory management and optimization; some of these are just a function of PoE's age and others are artefacts of retro-compatibility, and the type and volume of server-side processing going on.

I don't pretend to know a damn thing about C++ but I do know that people will get tired of having to reboot the game every 5-15 minutes because of memory leaks, just to avoid crashing when it's out of RAM and losing portals to Important Places that are gated by RNG.

Nobody sane gets hooked by this game. The point where u recover your sanity is when you finally quit the game.

The only "ARPG" that could make me leave PoE is Torchlight 3. Every other "ARPG" that will come out soonTM looks like budget clone of PoE or Diablo.
