Melee CI witch ideas?
Hey all I am trying to make a witch Melee CI build mainly for shits and giggles and in hardcore mode to see if it can be done.

Anyways awkward idea aside can this really be done and work? even a little? any input and ideas welcome. The main things I want in the build are beserker for themeatic reasons, Chaos Innoculation and to be wielding great big 2 handed weapons so try to keep to those three points when rearanging the passives or whatnot. Yeah I have other charecters to fund it I always assumed id have to do that, I was unsure how stun works works with CI? does it still go off of ur health so with 1 health ull always be stunned? If so I can wiggle some passives around to get unwavering stance and as for freeze I was planning on using like 1 mana flask 2 granite flasks a quicksilver flask and 1 resist flask of choice and i figured I could get remove freeze and chilled on the mana flask easy enough?
As for more IAS and dmg well not sure how I would wiggle any passives around for that i had to alot of just traveling around to get what I wanted in it and i figured I would def need any and all nodes with +ES% maybe throw together a passive build urself with increased damage and post it for me to look at if youd be so kind ^^. It works off your hp pool pre-CI
So lets say your lvl 55 want to go CI you have 5k ES 1k life you go CI when you get hit dmg goes to shield stun calculator runs off your hp pool (as if you didnt have CI activated). Since most CI builds avoid hp at all costs most CI get stunned frozen/shocked a LOT. apply this to melee who takes 500% more enemy strikes now you see the problem with CI build melee. The only way to do this is to not be a true melee but range melee skills like Etheral Knives etc. The only skill that can work in melee combat on an ES build is cyclone because during cyclone you are immune to stun/knockback. HOWEVER, you have to sacrafice 2 item slots for really low lvl items to gain resistance to frozen/shock. Helm/Ring. hope this helps melee not really possible with CI unless again ur not doing a true melee build flicker, Lightning strike, Etheral Knives, Traps, all work.<--- if you consider those melee go ahead. |

Well in that case surely I can shift my points about and get unwavering stance for stun immunity then? and go true melee build.
I wasnt sure what skills to use but I did want a full on melee char I was initially thinking of double strike but dex might be a bit iffy to get the route ov gone so maybe infernal blow? I could get all the +% fire damage near witch aswell with IB for any damage boost I needed. But I do also like the idea of cyclone, does seem very berserker esque of a skill. if you make it to lv 30 as ES/CI, let me know :P Whole point of CI is to be mobile and not get hit :P Cyclone wont work, for that you need heavy armor to slow yourself down, the slower your movement speed the more damage you do, also attack speed, the more attack speed cyclone has the more damage it dose. ok well ima giving melee ci witch a shot anyways Ill see how it goes ill prolly use cleave instead of cyclone for some small aoe then aswell.

I made a melee CI witch in the self-found smash mode race a few weeks ago, for the same reasons as you, to see if it could be done. I did die at 54 due to a stupid mistake on my part, but I was sleep-deprived and really messed up. It wasn't truly CI because I hadn't respec'd the points out of health to CI yet, I was going to do this in merciless act 2. It worked really well however, so it can definitely be done. Getting gear upgrades was a bit of a pain because I needed rather specific gear and couldn't work with anything. I'm sure I could have survived longer if I played it better. This is just to tell you it can certainly be done, although it might be harder than other more standard choices.

Highly recommended for CI builds as it has no drawback for them:
Use Wanderlust shoes for the beginning unless you use cyclone because of the +MS): no lvl requirement, +20% movementspeed and cannot be frozen. Use spell totem + summon skeleton to avoid getting raped by bigger groups (although its a bit embarrassing for a witchzerker to hide behind some skels). |

I really wanted to do it myself but tbh I'm not convinced it can work. Melee can be very reliant on life gain on hit to survive and unfortunately there is no energy shield gain on hit in the game. Life leech can be good too but it only works off of physical damage and witch is going to be wanting to go elemental.
