Help; Best melee spectre?

Google sucks!
Currently using Kitavas herald in a 4link
Spec + Zomb + FeedFrenzy + Fort

The good, leap slam (when they use it) gets the to the front lines and they tank pretty well

The bad, With FF they like to stay in the back and shoot off screen with low damage plasma ball thing.

The Zombies tend to die on longer fights and its annoying. I want to take them out and put in meat shield because I feel when I start to push delve they wont be too useful. That being said, I need some kind of spectre to run to the front and tank for me while I chill in the back with Ball lightning and HoA.

Looking around google and forums only seems to produce old threads of people testing random melee types and what they do and dont like about them or threads of people praising slave drives / ranged spectres.

I did see one post about a minion you cannot get until 250+ delve (Stoneskin Frayer) but what can I use until then?

Any input on what or why is greatly appreciated!

They have FANTASIC damage, but the trade off is they are STUPID SLOW! Looking for something fast and beefy to stay on the front lines.
Are you using minions to deal damage or just to tank stuff for you?

If damage, you really should have each type of minion in seperate links, as having them in the same link just makes all of them bad.

I haven't looked too much into melee spectres, but the general rule of thumb is if it's dangerous to you, it'll make a good spectre. Maybe get something that has a charge attack to close distance faster.
Those stone statues in act 3 won't die.

Tank, my damage comes from HoA.. Do you know any spectres that use a charge / dash / movement skill?

That's what I was using, they have bad AI (with FF gem)and sit in the back casting sometimes instead of going melee :(

I always figured you were supposed to put each minion in a separate 4L (or better) to maximize the minion supports. For example, I'm running a Spectre + Skeleton Necromancer build atm and I put them in different gear:

Since skeletons are temporary anyway I recast them ahead of my exile on top of the creatures so their AI movement (or lack thereof) is not of any concern to me. That isn't feasible with zombies (need a body) so I gave up on using them last league and went with skele minions. I don't mind having to recast them when they lag behind else I could use Convocation to get them back to my exile. But definitely use separate gear for each minion gem.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.
