Juggernaut still squishy
Hey guys,
last time I played PoE was a year ago. I had a Molten Strike Jugg back then which was quite tanky so I wanted that again with a different skill: Tectonic Strike. Here is my PoB: https://pastebin.com/6YQjA9Mt I get killed so easily this time. I remember facetanking Uber Izaro. Now I cannot even take 2 hits. First hit brings me down to ~30% HP already. Please help. For me there's no point playing melee if I have to jump around like a ranged class with way less DPS. Best regards and merry Christmas! Last bumped on Dec 24, 2019, 11:46:04 AM

" Welcome to POE, are you new? Melee is shit since day 1. Play it or not, don't complain. And yes, dmg migration is a hoax, you have to dodge or evade the hit. End game boss will 1hit or 1 melt you regardless of your migration. Jugg is good for uber lab, and that's it I guess. Its ascendancy is kind of in the bottom of the list. |

" As I stated I returned after a year. Back then it was not that bad and I read they changed many things to improve it for melee classes even more. Yet I feel incredibly weak compared to the times back then (12 months ago). I am not sure if you want to help here honestly. Last edited by rolfdafiftynine#7692 on Dec 22, 2019, 2:48:53 PM

In general, Jugg can be made pretty tanky, but there are still things you can't stand still for. You also need enough DPS that you can kill the boss (Izaro or whichever) relatively quickly, otherwise you have a lot more dancing to do. It's a balance.
There are not many builds that are just stand there and push a button until the boss dies. Defense is also a matter of layers. hard to know what's up in your build as your characters are private. Are you watching your e-charges? TS will use them for more damage, so you may not have as many as you think you have. That's something specific to a TS build. Are you at full Endurance charges when you die? Your build seems to be built around having them maxed out, but you won't have any when the Izaro fight starts until you've used Leap Slam or Enduring Cry or been hit and the Unflinching insta-max chance has kicked in. Until then, you'll be very vulnerable, especially if you've Leap Slammed right in Izaro's face where it's hard to avoid his attacks. Tectonic Slam has a decent range, so you shouldn't have to face-tank Izaro, which is never a good idea when he's fully empowered.

" I linked a Path of Building link you can import. Guess endurance charges are definately something I have to look into. In short I am using fortify and 9 endurance charges with 2 Nebulochs on 4,6k HP. |

You should really check if you have all your charges up by the time you get hit, getting hit without them will hurt a lot obviously.
Other than that your obvious problem is your lifepool. You do have decent mitigation but with just 4,6k life that doesn't cut it. Take that big life cluster next to the Scion starting point with your next level ups. After that you should be around 6-7k life. At that point you should be tanky enough to stomach pretty much everything. |

Do you have enough regen and max res to counter the Nebuloch degen?

" A lot of other players already provide with serious helpful input. Honestly, I just want you to realize, as soon as possible, that any melee build, Jugg or Champion or Gladiator, will be shit on in the current boss meta. So, whatever you do, you will be 1shot like a nuker/Dps in current situation. You have to prepare yourself ahead that you will be killed even with the most, self-claimed, un-killable build. For example, the current end game awakener Sirus fight is heavily in favor of any pure glass cannon, because even with 8k HP + layered defense, you will be melted away in 1-2 sec. So, if you like me, playing melee because we like it, we have to mentally understand the game is shit for melee, that's all. |

" This is simply not true. A well build Marauder/Duelist can withstand pretty much every hit the game can throw at him. Shaper slams, Elder slams, Sirus Meteor Bursts you can eat all of them and ask for more if you do it right. Obviously you aren't entirely immortal, strong Degens like Shaperbeam or Sirus Vortexes can still kill you fairly quick but they are easy to avoid. (well most of the time in Sirus case…). It still means that you can ignore 90% of all the attacks in the game and just keep dpsing instead of running around dodging. Melee is considered bad by some people because it's slower than ranged builds when it comes to cleaning. But we are talking about a few seconds difference here so that's negectable. |
