1) Don't pm someone and then sit in the trade menu for a year, cancel the trade and then say sorry. If you're too fucking stupid to not check the level req of the item or fickle enough to cancel on the spot for no reason, THEN DON'T EVEN PM THE PERSON!

2) Don't pm someone over and over who isn't responding, especially over 1-2c items. If it's something you REALLY need, then reply with only one second message saying that it's important to you and please respond later if they're busy. Assume that most of the time NO RESPONSE = NO LONGER FOR SALE. No one wants to respond to 20+ people saying "sorry sold" over and over.

3) Don't pm someone and haggle them down on an item that is already cheap. I've sold multiple items for chaos that most would list for an ex and I still get idiots who pm me trying to get the price down. If you NEED the item, then just buy it. Trust me you'll make the chaos back later. Only haggle if the item truly is overpriced, talking like 20c+

4) Don't sit in people's hideouts long after the trade is over, this can cause connection issues for the person that owns the hideout. Trade and GET OUT.

5) DO NOT pm someone for a trade asking X amount of a certain currency and you put up less with other random ass currencies. If someone is asking for X, then that's what they want. If you are low on currency and REALLY do need to sub in some lower currencies, then ASK beforehand. Don't just expect them to take it, that's rude AF.

6) If you pm someone for a trade then you go to their hideout, never expect someone to come to yours unless you are having connectivity issues or something else that prevents you from coming to theirs.

I may think of more later, but this stuff has been a staple for me while trading over the years.

A little rude maybe... but absolutely on point! ;)

Sound advice, for the most part (by the... sound of it). You should really take under consideration what those nice, and helpful, and friendly people suggested. Albeit what... certain individuals said with... a grain of salt, they are notorious provoc... —ahem— I mean they might be pulling yer l... teasing you, yes just teasing, that's all.

And good best of luck in your endeavors.

my opinion as someone whos made 10,000s of trades over 6 years...

* buyer sends the autogenerated copy/pasta of the sales request from the trade site

* seller invites them to party

* buyer zones to the sellers hideout and waits for the seller to initiate the trade, dont initiate the trade as the buyer, you are expected to have turned up with the correct money ready to go, the seller needs to sort their shit out and find the item, they make the trade when theyre ready. a little thing as a buyer, you can move a little off the hideout waypoint just to show the seller u are fully loaded into the zone and ready to go.

* both ppl throw their things in the trade windows, check all is in order, click accept.

* an optional thanks or whatever can happen either way at this point. I do a quick tytytyt hit personally, but i dont care if ppl say nothing.

* buyer leaves the hideout and then the party, the seller is more than welcome to kick the buyer from party right after the trade too. some people have maps open, maybe expensive content, maybe they have a party to get back to, who knows. its not bad manners to kick someone from a party right after trade, and its one less thing they have to do. if ur the buyer when u zone out of their hideout its good manners to immediately leave party just to draw a line under it and let them get on with their game.

its all very functional and generally impersonal, dont sweat it or overthink it, everyone just wants to make the swap and move on in a fairly no nonsense fashion.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Most are good, but #3 is garbage. I can offer whatever the f*ck I want. And if you don't want to accept it then that's fine too.
Its sometimes very troublesome for nonenglish ppl to change language on keyboard to reply "thx". When you talking with someone on native language in different chat its just super annoying to respond on both ways with different spelling in same chat window.
