Ensnaring arrow and pierce mechanic problem.

You might want to take a look at a build described here. https://www.requnix.com/path-of-exile-3-9-metamorph-top-builds

Specifically the "7. Bleed Split Arrow / Puncture", as well as "2. Split Arrow/Puncture Bleed Bow Gladiator" is the one I'm referring to. I'm just getting started (only level 45) but it uses bleed to very strong effect. I haven't started using ensnare yet, but it has the ensnaring arrow setup up that you mentioned included in the build.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

Im running something similar on a Deadeye. Playing puncture or split arrow without pierce is cancer for packs of mobs. You end up dropping 2 to 3 casts to clear a pack of mobs, and bosses that spawn minions become even more of a hassle. The bleed by itself from puncture is fine, but if you plan on using it for more than 1 arrow at a boss, you're gonna have a hard time using ensnaring at the same time. But if you take pierce to make sure you bleed as many targets as possible in a single shot you end up losing all the benefits of ensnaring.

Its terrible....

The build I referenced puts ensnaring arrow with a ballista totem support gem and so avoids the problems you described.
