If you do some googling, it shows as long as you show up in chat and are eligible for drops, that's all that's required. Apparently, the mute thing seems valid, so just mute the tab in Chrome rather than directly muting the twitch video.
I trust the dozens of google results over some random person complaining on the forums. |

Someone in chat emailed GGG and they say it's a problem with drops on Twitch's end.

Nothing so far for the entire eight hours of the stream. I've only opened Ziz's stream on a second tab a couple of minutes in between event, when there was nothing on screen. Been green the entire time.
