Is POE about to die?

Seems like every other league these months we get increasingly more gimmicky mechanics. It all started with Lab, and you people didn't listen. Now we have laggy tower defense. Told you so. It's over.

Yawn!!!... another troll post.

Ok, I'll bite. The short Answer is NO!

GGG is making approx. 12 million NZD a year according to Owler (don't know this site and their credibility), with conservative estimates in the 5 to 10 million NZD profit range per year. So that's a pretty health company.

As of May 2018 (so already 1.5 years old info) the OIO (Overseas Investment Office) says Tencent Mobility was allowed to buy an 80% stake of GGG worth at least 100 million NZD. According to the Article in The National Business Review the OIO doesn't get involved in a large NZ company stock purchase unless it exceeds 100 million. The details are here: Case 201720065 - Tencent Mobility Limited. The background info is interesting:

"
Tencent Mobility Limited is an online communication, advertising, and gaming service provider based in China.

Tencent Mobility Limited has been granted consent to acquire up to 100% of the shares in Grinding Gear Games Limited – 80% upfront and, over approximately 6 years, the remaining 20%.

Grinding Gear Games Limited is an independent video game developer, based in Auckland, which is best known for creating the “Path of Exile” online video game.

The shareholders of Grinding Gear Games Limited wish to realise the value of their investment and to allow the company to grow, by utilising the international connections of Tencent Mobility Limited.

Tencent Mobility Limited has satisfied the OIO that the individuals who will control the investment have the relevant business experience and acumen and are of good character. Tencent Mobility Limited has also demonstrated financial commitment to the investment.

I wonder what the OIO does in researching a foreign company that is buying => 100 million in a New Zealand company to determine that the company executives (in this case Tencent Mobility) making the 80% stock purchase are of "good character". Also of interest is that Tencent Mobility can acquire the remaining 20% of GGG in as little as 6 years (assuming Chris, Jonathan, Erik, etc. are willing to completely sell out).

So unless there is a nuclear meltdown at GGG (PoE completely implodes and everyone bails) they are most certainly not dead yet.

I wish this would be the end of these posts but I doubt it. Another will rear it's ugly head come the next challenge league that is majorly unpopular.

Edit: If Tencent can get 100% of GGG stock then it's only a matter of time before we see the "Mobility" kick in and we have PoE Universal (Immortal is already used) on our cell phones. (Ugh!)

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

that isn't when these posts are made tho. they're always made after a while in the league, and usually within the final month of a league before hype for the next league starts
Yep pack it up boys hope Diablo 3 takes us back. Been a fun ride, cya later.
Being happy is hard work.
Not entirely sure it's over but we will have more filler leagues until 4.0 hits. After that, who knows.
